After the situation with my father, he wouldn't look at me in the eye for a whole month, and only glared at Newt when he was around. Things were unnecessary tense, but I couldn't figure out how to dissolve it.
More people joined this month so I had made a new set of friends that knew nothing about a maze, thankfully. Speaking of friends, ours had great news to share: Brenda was pregnant. The news came one night when her, Sonya, Harriet and myself were all together when she just suddenly shouted it out.
This, along with the influence of Newt's parents, brought the idea of children to my mind.
--
"So," Newt's mother, Tasha, began, pouring Newt and I glasses of tea- cliche, I know. "How have my son and daughter-in-law been doing?"
Newt was sitting close to my left with his hand linked in mine. Ever since we arrived, Tasha had been very adamant about wanting to learn everything about us. She felt so disconnected from them- Newt and Sonya- since many years had gone by without either of them knowing how the other one was. She just wanted to be apart of their lives again.
"We're doing good. (Y/N) and I moved out of her fathers apartment and into our own last week," Newt proudly told her. The large smile on her face really made it seem like she was genuinely happy for us.
"Did you hear the news about your friends? Brenda and Thomas?" The one thing I caught on quickly with Tasha, was how much of a gossip she was. She was the first to know something and the first to spread it.
"We did," I chimed in, glancing at Newt. "We're very happy for them. After everything they've been through, it's wonderful to see them starting a family." Mark, Newt's father, joined in somewhere after I started talking, and took a seat on the fancy love seat.
"So," Mark drew out the syllable, "will we be expecting any grandchildren anytime soon?" My cheeks filled with heat until I was a blushing mess. Newt stuttered out a small excuse as to why we weren't ready yet, but I was too shocked by the unexpected question to form one coherent sentence.
Newt and I weren't ready to have a child. We were still ones ourselves. We couldn't remember our child hood at all, so we wouldn't know the first thing about raising one. Granted, we had a whole community full of parents willing to help us, including our own. Maybe we were ready.

"Newt," I whispered, almost seductively when he came home from work today. He had already changed into a clean pair of sweats and a plain white t-shirt, and was sprawled out on the couch. I kneeled in front of him with my fingers delicately playing with the collar of his shirt.
"(Y/N)?" He said, imitating my tone. He raised an eyebrow while closing the book that was on his lap.
"I've been thinking-"
"That's dangerous, love," he snickered with a smirk plastered on her face. I rolled my eyes.
"Shut up." He laughed, motioning for me to continue. "I think we should have a family." When he looked at me uncertain of what I meant, I groaned loudly enough for him to laugh. "Y'know... first comes love, then comes marriage-" I clicked our rings together, "-then comes a..." I trailed off, letting him figure out what I meant. It took him a few seconds before his mouth parted and he sat up. All worries I had washed away when he put his hands in my cheeks and kissed me with a smile interrupting the kiss.

FanfictionI'm a hopeless romantic so I write stories about The Maze Runner's Newt or Thomas Brodie Sangster. Most of them are sweet but some are heartbreaking. Thanks for reading and voting! :)
