Newt. The boy who sent butterflies to my stomach and made my head swirl was also unintentionally the boy who was driving me mad. He didn't know he was doing it, but I knew, and the others knew.

It wasn't that way the whole time though. At the beginning of the relationship, it was the puppy love phase. The sickeningly cute displays of affection, the constant lovey words thrown back and forth, and the scheduled meetings behind the Homestead or in the Deadheads. The boys knew wherever one of us went, the other would go too.

That changed when she showed up.

Now I don't want to sound jealous because that would be totally hypocritical since the glade was filled with boys and there were only two girls, but I was jealous. I mean, the glade literally was dominated by boys, yet the girl chose to follow the only taken boy like a lost puppy. It was sketchy.

This didn't mean I was rude to her. I showed her around the glade when Alby thought it would be best for the only girl to show the new girl around, and at the time I had no problem with it. She was sweet to me when she asked the typical questions a greenie would ask like who put us here, why were there only two girls, and what was behind the giant walls. But the suspicions arose at the bonfire.

The boys were lighting the fire with their long staffs lit to toss into the stack of logs. Alby gave the call to the Keepers, while the other boys roared and cheered with Gally's drink raised in their hands. I was laughing along with the boys until I followed the new girls eyes. She still hadn't remembered her name yet, so for now her unofficial name was greenie.

Her eyes followed Newt as he clinked his jar against the other Keepers who were toasting off another bonfire. She bit at her bottom lip as the fire kissed at his pale skin, highlighting his muscled arms and chiseled collarbones poking out of the sweatshirt. He looked very good in this lighting, but I was the only one who was allowed to think so.

"Who's he?" She asked, pointing to Newt. After the boys rowdiness died down a little, she went with me over to one of the logs laid on it's side so we had available seating for tonight. Newt was standing over by the Runners since they were still his close friends.

Newt told me about what he did on that wall a few months ago that cost him his job and leg- thankfully not his life. I distinctly remember the heart wrenching feeling I had when Alby carried him over the line into the glade, and the even worse feeling when he explained why. I couldn't understand then why he would give up hope when he had so many people who needed him, but now I do.

"His names Newt," I said twirling the cup in my hand instead of looking up. Out of the corner of my eye I could see her head turned so she could watch him with her chin sitting in her palm.

The rest of that night consisted of many questions the girl had about Newt, and most of them I wouldn't answer. It felt wrong to tell this girl every detail about my boyfriend.

She had been here for a total of two months now and each day I lost him more and more, but it wasn't his fault. He honestly was a caring guy who wanted to make her feel just as comfortable as he was able to make me feel. He just didn't know in the process he was pushing me away.

"Hey, have you seen Newt?" I asked the twentieth boy that I had passed the same question. My boyfriend had been missing for half a day now, after he followed Liz, the girl who learned her name three days after she came up, towards the Homestead. She claimed she had some giant problem that only the Second in Command could fix.
