* A part 2 to the Classmates imagine was requested a couple times in the comments so I figured I would do it. I wasn't sure where to go with it so it ended up being really short. Sorry! *

To say the date went perfectly was an understatement; soulmates is what my mother used to describe us after I explained how the date went.

Newt took me to dinner at a diner on the edge of town before driving up to the middle of nowhere to star gaze. It wouldn't have been my pick at a first date, but I honestly didn't realize until then how much it should have been.

He was the perfect gentleman- pulling out the seat for me to sit, paying for the meal, opening and closing my door every time, etc.- and he made sure I was comfortable the whole night. Most of it was spent with his jacket over my shoulders too.

It wasn't until he dropped me off at my front door that we shared a kiss. Well, it was a soft peck to the cheek, but we still adored it as if it was anything more. I pretended not to notice his fist swinging in the air and him tripping over my front step after I closed my front door.

That lead us to this morning. The walk to school was different today. There was a softer vibe to the air and our fingers were laced together- not that it was unnatural but it felt different. He was more smiley today and our friends noticed the moment we walked up.

Teresa demanded every detail about the date while the boys simply asked Newt if it went well or not. He smiled widely when he answered 'definitely'. Walking past our friends to our lockers, he seemed to lose the chill feeling and replaced it with jitters.

"Umm, (Y/N)?" He asked, picking at the skin around his nails so that he wouldn't have to look me directly in the eye.

"Yes?" I hummed and gave him my full attention. I inched closer after closing my locker door and watched Newt nervously put his hand against his open door.

"Would you- umm... will you be m-my girlfriend?" He stuttered. His face was burning red as he glanced up at my face for the first time.

I almost laughed, seeing how nervous he was around me was something new and I was liking it. Plus, I thought it was obvious on how the date went that I wanted to be his girlfriend. Nonetheless, my heart fluttered at the question.

"Of course I'll be your girlfriend." He smiled again and blew out a puff of air in relief. How could he think I would say no?

He took my hand again as we walked to our first period of the day. The rest of the day went quite the same with little spurts of affection from each of us while still getting our work done and teasing from our friends- Gally was giving it the hardest.

When lunch rolled around, we took our normal spots and began eating. Newt slid his hand from his lap to around my waist but pretended not to notice as he continued working on his math homework.

"You missed a problem," I corrected once I glanced down at the sheet of paper, noticing number 6 was wrong. He rolled his eyes and corrected the problem before sliding his hand back around my waist.

"So is this a thing now?" Minho asked, pointing his finger between Newt and I. The others all turned their heads to look at us, making heat rush to our cheeks.

Newt cleared his throat. "Yes, it is. (Y/N) agreed to be my girlfriend."

"Well why wouldn't she? I would say yes too, Newt," Thomas added, making everyone laugh.

After school, Newt walked me home like usual, but this time I invited him inside. We set our bags by the front door, grabbed some snacks, and plopped down in front of the television.

Newt at one point slid across his chair until his head was rested gently in my lap. His face was directed towards the TV but his eyes were closed. He hummed against my legs are I brushed the hair out of his eyes and ran my fingers through it.

Massaging his head, I asked, "How was your day?" I just wanted to hear him talk, and it felt so relaxing having him here lying on me.

"It was great," he yawned, his voice showing just how tired he really was. "I got a beautiful girl to be my girlfriend and I passed my history test. I'd say it was a pretty good day."

"Why don't you take a nap, sweetheart? I know how tired you are," I offered, softly holding his face. He smiled, nodding his head and nestling his face back in my leg to go to sleep.

Newt fell asleep not too long after that with drool pooling in a small puddle. He would wake up, we would eat, maybe kiss, and talk about our day before he had to go home. Then we would repeat the whole cycle all over again. It was the typical high school relationship with a boy named Newt.
