I was walking through the broken city renamed the scorch looking for my friends. We had gotten separated after the boys escaped Wicked and leaving me when Ratman grabbed my shirt as the doors closed. I had to watch Newt, my boyfriend, leave me behind or else he would have died. But now I don't know if he's alive or not.Wicked gave me a mission that I chose not to follow. This made them implant a chip in my brain which allows them to control my every move. As hard as I tell myself to stop moving, my legs move anyway.
I was walking by fallen rocks from the tall canyon above me when I heard people.
"Come on guys. Almost there." It was Thomas encouraging them to move. Now I began crying with my hand over my mouth.
Then they came into view. The six gladers, loosing Winston, were walking towards me looking drained of energy. They continued walking until I came into view which was only a few meters from them. He was alive.
They all froze with their eyes on me. My hand ran down my back until I grabbed the small metal gun tucked in my waist band.
"(Y/N). You're alive!" Newt cheered and started coming closer.
"Stop! Please don't come any closer," I announced with a shaky voice.
"What's wrong?" He asked obviously confused.
"I don't want to do this but I can't stop," I cried and lifted the gun. I aimed it at Newt who immediately gasped and held his hands up. He looked broken and upset as he looked at my shaking hand.
"(Y/N), why would you shoot us? Just put the gun down," Thomas tried to calm me but I looked down and shook my head.
"I can't. They're controlling me. I can't control what I do anymore," I cried and moved my eyes back to Newt.
"You can fight this. Please baby fight it. You're scaring me," Newt said making my chest ache.
"(Y/N) we're free now," Fry explained to the left of Newt and Minho.
"They won't let me stop. Please stop me. Someone kill me so I don't hurt you," I begged. As much as I pleaded my finger turned the gun off safety. "Kill me so I don't kill you!"
"You can fight this! You've had worse, baby. I love you so put the gun down," Newt pleaded and took a step closer.
"Please stop me. I can't stop it myself, they won't let me! Someone do something please. Please. Please," I cried covering my mouth with my left hand.
"I'm not gonna hurt you," Newt said crying too. "I love you! You can fight through them!"
"No! Stop! Run before I pull the trigger. Please! Don't let me hurt you," I screamed. My finger shook to the trigger and curled around it. "I'm sorry."
My finger pulled. Multiple screams filled the scorch but I didn't noticed. Someone had grabbed my hip and tackled me onto the ground. I gasped for air that wasn't reaching for my lungs as I looked up at Teresa.
"I'm sorry, (Y/N)," she whispered before taking my hair and lifting it. She then slammed the back of my head onto the ground.
"Teresa! Stop!" Boys screamed but seemed unable to get her off. My vision went blurry as my ears rang, taking away my hearing all together.
It took six times but my eyes finally closed for good.
Only they didn't. I woke up two days later inside a small tent. My eyes peeled open to slam shut once I felt the immense pain in the back of my head. I groaned and lifted my hand to my forehead.
"Baby girl," Newt called and sat beside me. I opened my eyes and looked to him who had puffy cheeks and red eyes.
"Newt. I-I'm so so sorry. I-I, did I-i shoot anyone? Did-did I hurt anyone?" I stuttered and gripped onto his shirt while pulling myself up.
"No you didn't. You were always a terrible aim," he smirked and pulled me into his chest. I cried with my face in his shirt while gripping tightly onto his collar.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I couldn't stop. I didn't want to hurt you. I love you. I'm sorry," I ranted through his shushes.
"It wasn't you. I believe you. Just like it wasn't Gally either. I love you too. So much baby girl," he whispered and pecked my forehead.
"What happened?"
"Well, Teresa actually broke the chip in your brain by hitting your head. Now you aren't being controlled but you will have a headache for a long time," he smiled and pushed my hair back from my face while inspecting it. "I thought I lost you. I thought I left you. Baby girl, what did they do to you?"
"Tests. Mainly just had me watch videos of the flares and then let me go a day before I found you to find you. They think what they're doing is working. That it's gonna solve everything but it isn't. They're just torturing us." I looked down at his lips before pulling them to meet mine. It was a soft kiss lasting seconds before I wanted to look at him again. "I'm sorry I almost killed you. I love you so much though."
"Don't apologize, love. It wasn't you. Plus, I love you too much to ever be mad at you," he smiled and kissed me again, this time for a lot longer.
"You were right about the headache. It hurts worse than the morning after having tons of Gally's drink," I giggled. He smiled and lifted me into his lap.
"You need rest. I'll be right here when you wake up, alright my love?"
"Goodnight Newt. I love you."
"I love you more," he smiled and kissed my lips before pulling my back into his front so we could fall asleep.
