"Shhh ... shhh ... It's alright, daddy is here ..." Mycroft whispered to the agitated baby. He was trying to settle her in the baby seat that had been prepared for her in the official's car but the baby was moody from the fifteen-hours flight and didn't seemed to be willing to get attached to anything any more. Rain was pouring over the elder Holmes's shoulders and if he was to spend a minute more under the weather he would most probably catch a cold, but he couldn't resolve to let the little girl at risk in the car.

Seeing that his husband was in a bad state, Gregory ended his phone conversation with his superintendent and climbed in the car by the other door in order to help him. He gently pulled on the little girl's leg to slip them through the harness and a couple of minutes later the baby was securely installed in her seat, despite her protestations and tears.

The auburn took is seat, shaking his head to get rid of the drops of rain trying to get to his eyes, provoking a giggle from the policeman who couldn't help but find it rather cute and in the same time funny. He rummaged his hand through the now-nearly black hair and pecked him delicately on the cheek before recentering his attention on his daughter who had stopped crying but was now looking very grumpy and cold.

"Poor little thing, you must be exhausted ..." the yarder muttered to her, running a soft finger over the baby's cheek. "Don't worry, as soon as we will be home, you will be all warm and cosy in your new bed."

"If only Alden doesn't insist on bringing her all around the house with him." the official remarked with a little smirk.

"You will meet your new brother. He is very excited about meeting you, you know." the older man continued as the little girl was looking at him curiously.

Of course, she couldn't understand english, but she was still able to comprehend who where the men around her as the carer from the orphanage had explained it to her. She was also able to deduce that she must have been nearly home as the two men were now speaking the same gibberish as all the other people she had heard in the airport. She babbled a few words in her language and Greg had the feeling that she was feeling happy and excited and he pecked her on the nose.

The black Jaguar was yet again stuck in London's traffic, a state that seems to be its natural state in Mycroft's mind and Aelane as well as the auburn were starting to find their position pretty much uncomfortable as they both couldn't wait to be home and get changed and warm. After a couple more minutes of keeping his impatience silent, the elder Holmes finally ordered his driver to switch on the blue light, despite knowing that the baby wouldn't like the sound of the sirens in any way. He himself would have wished to have the sound switched off but for whatever reason, that wasn't possible anymore since a few weeks and he hadn't had any long enough holidays or foreign travel to have the car checked up and fixed.

The driver finally pulled off on Kensington Palace Garden and parked in front of the red-brick mansion bearing the number 15B. The rain had nearly stopped but the policeman still hurried to take the little girl out of her seat and bring her into the warm and dry environment of the house. As soon as he heard the door opening on his father, Alden ran out of the living room where he was playing miniature car with Hugh Lestrade and tried to have a glimpse at the little bundle wrapped in a blanket in the detective's arms.

"Can I see her please Papa ?" he whimpered, impatient.

The yarder kneeled and unwrapped her slightly from her blanket for the boy to be able to see her face.

"Hello. I am Alden and I'm your big brother." he declared proudly to the surprised baby. "This is your house. Do you want to see the rest of it ?"

"I think she wants to sleep a little sweetheart." the auburn gently refused as he entered the house, a couple of bags in his hands. "You can show her around when she will wake up from her nap, alright ?"
