Chapter 47

Michael's POV

I wake up after feeling like months of being asleep and the first thing I see is my beautiful girlfriend and my 3 best friends. I force a tired smile, and Danni bursts into tears. Happy tears I hope.

"Michael!" she shouts with excitement and jumps on me. I wince from pain, but I don't care, I've been waiting for her touch for god knows how long I've been out.

We are interrupted by 2 police men.

"Mr Clifford?" the bald man addresses me.

"Yes?" I ask looking at them both.

"We are going to have to get a statement from you about what happened, you alright to answer a few questions?" a woman with blonde hair asks and I nod.

"You sure?" Danni asks squeezing my hand and I nod. Danni, Luke, Cal and Ash all walk out leaving me alone with the 2 police officers.

"Do you know who this man was?" I don't know whether I should tell the police it was Danni's dad. As I'm about to answer I receive a text

*danni: tell them it was my dad, you have to* it reads

I nod.

"Robert Monk" I say and they nod and take notes in their clipboard.

"Why did he do this?" the woman asks.

"He isn't happy with me being with his daughter, it just got out of control" I said playing with my fingernails.

"Right, okay, I think that is all for now, thank you Mr Clifford" the bald man says before walking out.

I'm left alone for a couple minutes replaying events from yesterday. How I couldn't breathe, I was scared, more scared than I've ever been in my life, I thought I was going to die. I heard the door open, too tired to look who it was I lay there expecting Danni to appear at my feet seconds later. I close my eyes.

"I'm so sorry Michael" a mans voice says. My eyes spring open. My attempted murderer at my feet, my hearts racing, I can feel all the blood draining from my face.

"Get away from me" I hiss and press the button to call the police.

"Michael I didn't mean for this to happen, you have to understand" he says with a gentle touch on my leg. Seconds later the police storm through the door with Danni at their side. They tackle Robert onto the bed at my feet and cuff him.

"Robert Monk I am arresting you for attempted murder, you do not have to say anything but anything you do say you will later rely on in court" one unrecognisable police officer says to Robert. The walk him out of the room and he gives me an apologising smile. I can't help but feel guilty.
