74. The Third Lorelai(Season 1, episode 18)
The, previously dead, original Lorelai shows up, and brings with her a healthy dose of judgment, condescension, and drama. We get an interesting new perspective on Emily as we see how her mother in law terrorizes her every time she visits. More insights into the mind of Emily Gilmore come when Gran offers to pay for Rory's school, causing Emily to worry that she will lose Lorelai again, and that this time she will take Rory with her. In a true showing of her neurotic ways, Paris stresses over her date with Tristan, making her seem just a little bit more human.
High points: People on Gilmore Girls (particularly Paris and Emily) are at their funniest when they are stressed.
Low points: The episode seems to drag a little. There's not really enough going on to propel it to epic Gilmore heights.
