69. Love, Daisies, and Troubadours (Season 1, episode 21)

In the most spontaneous and least romantic proposal ever, Max asks Lorelai to marry him in order to end a fight. The yellow daisies proposal sort of makes up for it, but the whole thing came from a really weird place. Paris gets mad at Rory because apparently she hasn't figured out that Tristan has a tendency to lie about things. Rory and Dean get back together with a rather overrated kiss in which Dean tries to eat Rory's face off. We can cut them a little slack because it was the first season, but finales really did get better later on.

High points: The yellow daisies are pretty romantic and lead to some Kirk and Michel interaction, which should be made a regular thing. Rory and Lorelai name Luke's toolbox, Luke gets jealous, and we get rid of Rachel, who was starting to get on everyone's nerves, including Luke's.

Low points: The end of season 1 is just sort of forgettable, which is a shame because the season as a whole is one of the best.

Best quote: "Because I love you, you idiot!"- Rory
