19. Richard in Stars Hollow (Season 2, Episode 12)
Emily, fed up with Richard and his excess of free time, pawns him off on Lorelai and Rory to get a day of peace. As you would imagine, the day goes less than smoothly. Lorelai's relationship with her mother has been developed rather significantly at this point, but we've seen little of her relationship with her father. It gives us insight into both their characters that we have not previously seen, and while it may not be the funniest, it's an important episode and one that moves Richard along as a character, as well as developing his relationship with Rory and Lorelai and showing his changing relationship with Emily.
High points: development of Richard's character and his relationships with Rory and Lorelai, exploration of how retirement was not what he or Emily thought it would be, Paris's detirmination to uncover the seedy side of Stars Hollow
Low points: Richard goes to far by usurping Lorelai's authority as Rory's mother with the car, Taylor goes too far by "censoring" nearly every video in the store (though we really shouldn't expect any different from either of them)
