13. Luke Can See Her Face (Season 4, Episode 20)
This is a rare episode that focuses more on Luke, giving us a chance to see development in his relationships with Lorelai, Liz, and Jess. In a moment fans have been waiting for for almost four years, Luke finally admits his feelings for Lorelai. We also get to see more of his sister, Liz, who comes to town announcing her engagement and leans on Luke for support. The episode further develops Luke as the go-to guy we've all known him to be and proves that Lorelai and Rory aren't the only ones who rely on him. It also sees the return of one of my favorite pairings, Jess and Luke, and shows how much Jess has grown, but also how far he has to go, and how much he has to thank Luke for.
High points: Luke being there for Lorelai during the stress of opening the inn, Luke's hilarious interaction with his self help tape, Luke's hilarious interaction with Andrew while buying the self help tape, Jess's further character growth
Low point: We came so close to getting rid of the awkward Paris and Asher relationship. So close, and yet so far.
Best quote: "I can't stop drinking the coffee. If I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the walking and the talking and the words-putting-into-sentence-doing."-Lorelai
