GIA POV
My dad agreed to meet me at a local restaurant. I was nervous as hell. This was a deep conversation we were going to have. I know this is my "dad" but I couldn't figure out what to wear let alone how to even start this conversation.
"Hey you almost ready?" Delano peeked his head inside the bedroom. "Yeah almost. I'm just nervous so I'm trying my best not to sweat through my clothes".
"You'll be fine and if anything I'll go with you to be your support system" he offered. I smiled "you would do that for me?". He nodded "of course. I want to make sure you get through this".
"Well let's go" I said. I grabbed Ryan's car seat and walked out the door. Since we are making this a family thing anyway. On the way there nerves were getting the best of me. I couldn't even think straight. Feeling Delano's hand on my thigh I smiled. "You'll do fine trust me".
We reached the restaurant and I guess we were early. Delano found us a seat outside. He placed Ryan on a seat facing us. And I sat in the middle of them. My leg was trembling like crazy. Delano took notice.
"Breathe, and relax okay. It's the same guy you called dad for twenty four years. No need to get nervous" he said.
"You know what... you looked at me the same way before you took advantage of me that night at Bria's" I joked.
"And you lie and say you don't remember anything" he smiled.
"I couldn't give you that satisfaction of me remembering anything. You know I couldn't let you live that up" I said.
"Well if you must know my satisfaction of that night is sitting right next to you just looking around" he said. I shook my head "of course you would say something like that".
My dad walked to us and smiled "hello gia, Delano! And is this Ryan?" I nodded "yup that's him". My dad got eye level with him and just smiled "he's adorable".
Delano nodded "thank you".
"Well let's go inside so we can talk" my dad said. I nodded "okay". Delano nodded "we will be out here waiting for you".
Leaving Delano and Ryan I followed my dad to a nice corner spot in the back. We needed as much alone time as possible. He took his seat and so did I. We didn't say anything at first until he said "I'm sorry gia. I can't even fathom how you felt when your mother said what she did".
I took a deep breath "do you know who my real dad is?". My dad just looked down "Yes, the crazy thing is somehow the universe worked in your favor. You became best friends with your half sister".
My eyes filled up with tears "so Bria is my sister... her dad came over to her place and discussed about mom and I was confused cause he's never mentioned her before. But he doesn't know about me".
My dad shook his head "he has no clue about you. Your mother made sure he didn't know about you. Why? I don't know".
"This is crazy. All this time she's hated me for her mistake that I constantly reminded her of".
"Gia I'm sorry you had to find out the way you did. I wish we could do this all over again. And at least give you the truth the right way".
"Even though that woman is a sociopath. She taught me something. And that's to love my child. Whether Ryan was conceived through a one night stand I still love him to the fullest".
My dad smiled "I'm happy you didn't turn out like her. After all she's done to you. You came out on top".
"With some damages of course" I joked. "Just do me a favor don't tell her you met up with me. I don't want to give her anymore ammo".
"Understandable. And Gia please take care of yourself. You have a man out there who clearly loves you. Be a woman your son can look up to".
He was right. I had to be strong for my son. And for myself. "Thanks dad". He got up and hugged me tight "and if there's anything you need don't be afraid to call me and ask. You're still my daughter at the end of the day".
Wiping a tear that fell from my eye. He walked me out with his arm around my shoulder. He turned to Delano "take good care of her and my grandson". Delano nodded and didn't say anything. I think from all that's been going on he rather not.
"So he confirmed what we already knew?" Delano asked.
"Yup. Now I just have to talk to Bria first and then her dad" I nervously said.
"Well one battle is over just two more to go" he said.
I nodded "pretty much. But I'm not as nervous anymore not until I have to talk to Bria's dad. I might faint when that happens".
"Don't worry I'll be with you every step of the way. You'll be fine" he smiled.
"Thank you for everything that you do for me. You don't have to do anything but you choose to do it".
"That's because I love you, Gia. How many times must I say it?" He teased.
"Anyway let's go. I'm getting hungry. And I can imagine Ryan is hungry" grabbing his baby bag and getting his bottle. "I fed him while you were inside. And yes, I burped him before you ask". I smiled "Well, well, well... daddy is on point today". He wrapped his arm around me and walked me back to the car. It's days like this I love.
