Chapter 4 A Special Bond

Frederick was sitting near the den entrance watching Scarlet and Shawn play outside then he sighed wishing he could go join them but he was still grounded and not allowed outside.
"Ah ha! Gotcha!" Denny suddenly took him off guard as he barrels into him pinning him down on the floor of the den. "Hey!" Frederick hollers out as he tries pushing his older brother off of him.
"Heh, you didn't even see me coming!" He said in a cocky tone.
"Oh, big mistake!" Frederick said as he used his back legs to finally push his brother off, then got into a playful battle stance.
Denny's eyes glowed with the Challenge.
"Oh, you're on!"
He teased Frederick playfully before tackling him. They rolled on the floor together until Richard walked in and growled at them. "No Wrestling in the den. If you're going to do that then go outside and play!" They both sat up Exchanging confused glances with one another.
"But I thought you said we're not allowed outside because you grounded us?" Frederick asked,
"It's been two days since I grounded you. I think that's long enough" Denny's tail starts wagging. "Alright! Let's go do a surprise attack on Scarlet and Shawn!" Frederick got excited.
"yea and maybe we can go see Lupin again later."
Denny frowned "Umm we're not allowed to remember?" Then Frederick gave Denny a Mischievous smirk "Maybe we can sneak off without getting caught this time."
Denny shook his head.
"Come on Frederick, what's so great about that Poochyena anyways?" Frederick held his gaze then shrugged. "What's not great about him? Come on Denny, don't you want to go see him?" Denny was hesitant to answer which made Frederick puzzled. 'Does Denny not like Lupin?'
Then he smirked at Frederick. "Why would I want to go see him when my Best Bud is standing right here?" He nudged Frederick in the side playfully.
"Come on now let's go give them a good scare."
Frederick shook his head. "Can't we go just for a little bit?" Denny suddenly looked hurt.
"No way am I risking getting grounded just to go see him again, and honestly I think you should stay away from him too."
Then he ran off to go play with Scarlet and Shawn. Frederick sat down with a pout 'Fine then maybe I can just sneak off all by myself then.'
Frederick walked by them padding towards the river. "Hey, Fredrick, where are you going?" Shawn asked. Frederick ignored him as he walked by. Scarlet paused and ran up to him. "Hey come play with us!" She poked him with her paw but Frederick shook his head. "I'm thirsty I'm going to the river for a drink" Scarlet smiled "I'll come with you I'm Thirsty too!" Then before Frederick could object, Shawn yelled "Race you there!" Then he took off with a dash towards the river with Denny pelting right behind him then Scarlet took off sprinting after them, Frederick sighed in defeat then joined them running at his full speed, he was catching up to Scarlet, pushing on the earth hard with his paws, he passed her and caught up to Denny running right beside him, then they came up to the river. Shawn gave a victory yell "I won!" He was jumping up and down his tail wagging, Scarlet caught up gasping for air. "No fair you got a head start!" She whined. Denny glanced at Frederick. "I think we both came in second place."
Frederick nodded in agreement then they all ran up to the edge of the river and started drinking. Fredrick looked across the river wondering if maybe they would see Lupin, but to Frederick's disappointment, the Forest on the other side stayed quiet and still. Then Shawn pawed at him. "Frederick, are you ok? You keep looking over there, do you see something?" He asked, sounding a bit nervous. Then Scarlet started peering over trying to see what might be on the other side, then Fredrick shook his head and Denny walked up to stand right beside him and rested his tail on his shoulder "Ah, don't worry Fredrick we will get to see him again in one moon you know it's not the end of the world, besides you got us we're your siblings" Fredrick smiled and tackled Denny playfully, Scarlet and Shawn joined in on the game of tackle. Once they got up they playfully padded back home together.

One moon later

The sun came up and Frederick got out of bed; he was excited; he was now old enough to cross the river if he wanted to, and that meant he was finally allowed to see his friend Lupin. Frederick poked Shawn who was still sleeping beside him "Hey Shawn wake up"
Shawn's eyes opened then he looked surprised to see it was Frederick who had awoken him. "Frederick, you're up? You're usually the last one out of bed."
Then Scarlet yawned and opened her eyes "Hey, we're old enough to go see Lupin now!" She gave a cheerful yell then she gave Denny a shove. "Get up Denny! If Frederick is up then you can get up" Denny grumbled and opened his eyes.
"Frederick isn't up yet is he?"
"I was the first one up for a change" he replied, his tail wagging excitedly.
Denny looked surprised "Oh, I never thought I'd ever see the day" He joked, Frederick jumped out of bed getting to his paws. "Come on guys, let's go see Lupin!"
Then he ran out of the den, and they all followed running towards the river. Once they got to the fallen tree that went across the river Scarlet hopped onto the thick bark and started walking across, then without hesitation, Denny dived into the river and disappeared under the dark water's surface. Frederick and Shawn gave a shocked yell. "DENNY!" they all yelled.
Scarlet who was still on the tree log peered over at the water with a scared look on her face. "Oh no, what do we do!" She cried Frederick felt panic then Denny's head reappeared as he broke the surface and waded across to the other side and pulled himself out of the water and shook his brown fur out like nothing even happened. "Wow Denny I didn't know you could swim" Fredrick complimented him" Well, anyone could swim it's just common sense"
"How?" Shawn asked.
Denny shrugged his shoulders. "I dunno you just pad your paws in the water" Shawn gave a puzzled Expression. "Hu? And to think that our mother can't swim"
Scarlet was glancing at the water. "Not all Mons can swim you know." She said as she was dipping her paw in the water.
Frederick was now looking at the water himself thinking about how one day this very source would be his weakness.
"I could swim now." He began.
"But one day I won't be able to because it could kill me." Denny sat down and looked at him from the other side "Yeah it's a shame that not even a Shiny like yourself can handle water as a fire type"
"Denny, don't compare us like that, it's not nice!" Shawn stated. "I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that, don't worry Frederick if you ever fall in a lake or something I'll be there to drag you out because even when I'm a Glaceon I'll still, be able to swim" Fredrick smiled at Denny. "Thanks! I promise I will always be there for you too"
"yeah, we make a good team" Denny jumped back into the water and pulled Frederick in. "Denny!" Scarlet shouted, sounding scared.
Frederick felt shocked as he pummeled into the cold water and his paws couldn't reach the bottom. 'Oh, Arceus no! I can't stay afloat!
panic filled his mind, but then Denny grabbed him. "It's ok I've got you, Kick Frederick you gotta kick your paws," Denny said in a calm voice. "Come on it's easy just calm down, you can do it" Frederick relaxed his mind and started kicking with all four of his paws he imagined he was running on flat ground, and he could feel himself rise then his head was above water. "Hey, I'm doing it!" He called out excitedly. "Denny was right this is just padding in water" Shawn jumped in next, but Scarlet stayed where she was "I...I don't want to" she sounded scared. "Oh come on Scarlet it's fun" Shawn called. "Yeah!" Denny added.
"You should learn how to swim, who knows it could save your life one day."
"Yeah, well I'm not going to, I hate getting wet!" She objected.
Denny splashed Frederick. "You have to enjoy it while you still can"
"Hey, are you guys done yet? I don't want to watch you swim around all day, what about Lupin?" Scarlet asked "Oh all right" Shawn got out and shook out his fur. "Ugh! Shawn did you not just hear what I said?... I hate getting wet!" Scarlet snapped "Ok, ok sorry sis." Shawn grumbled Frederick scrambled out next, with Denny right behind him but before he could shake. Scarlet glared at him "Don't you dare even think about it" Denny glared at her "Go over there, I wanna dry off."
"yea," Fredrick agreed. "Fine." She marched off, Then they all followed her.

Once they finally got to the Mightyena pack, it looked as though they were getting ready to leave.
Frederick felt confused seeing this surely not all of them are going hunting?
Then Lupin came running towards them. "Hey you finally made it, what took you guys so long?" He asked then Denny sighed "We told you, we weren't allowed to cross the river but now we're old enough to swim so now we can" Lupin looked sad "What's going on?" Frederick asked.
Lupin, was frowning, seeming upset. "Something terrible is gonna happen in the Forest"
"What? What do you mean?" Shawn asked, sounding weary.
Lupin looked at him then at Scarlet. "Sorry, I never met you two before, what's your name?"
"Oh, I'm Shawn and this is our younger sister Scarlet"
"Oh, ok... and you know mine already.."
"Ya, Your Lupin, you met Frederick and Denny about a moon ago" Shawn replied, "Alright let's get to the point, what's gonna happen?!" Scarlet demanded, sounding very agitated. "Oh yeah about that, it's not a good time but this evil shiny Charizard is coming to the forest"
"So, what we're all supposed to leave just because one Charizard is coming?" Denny asked. "No there's more to this Charizard than you know and trust me you don't want to know. I don't even know the full story my dad won't tell me, all he said is we gotta leave or we will die" Scarlet and Shawn looked scared. Fredrick started to feel sick himself.
'It's feels like the world really is ending.'
Denny gave Lupin a mean look "Ok, cut it out Lupin you're scaring my siblings but you can't scare me!"
"Honestly Denny you should be scared too you guys need to go home and tell your parents so you can leave" Fredrick felt sad "But we finally get to see each other after we waited a whole moon and now it's goodbye?"
Lupin Frowned "I guess so" He had a few tears in his eyes as he hugged Frederick. "Goodbye my friends, may we meet again someday" Frederick was fighting the urge not to cry.
'It's not fair! I wasn't allowed to see him when I wanted to, and now I'm finally allowed and now he's leaving forever!'
A Mightyena broke Frederick's train of thought when he came running into the pack in a panic. "Pack!" He yells
"The Charizard has been spotted in the forest. He's here, we have to go now!" Mike got up "Lupin we have to go now! get over here and tell your friends to hurry home!" Lupin frowned "I guess this is goodbye" Then he turned and ran to his father to join the others.

The four Eevees were on their way home.
"You guys I'm scared we have to hurry home" Scarlet whimpered, sounding close to tears. "It's ok Scarlet I won't let that Stupid Charizard hurt you" Denny replied "But we're still just Eevees," Shawn points out in a shaky voice filled with fear.
"So what? an Eevee can still fight" Denny said. Frederick gulped. "Even a psychopath Charizard?"
"You know Fredrick I feel like this Charizard story is nothing more than bullshit on the side" Denny growled, "that Mightyena pack think they can scare us by telling us that one Mon is coming"
"Ummm y-You guys," Shawn stuttered sounding scared. "what? What's wrong?" Denny asked Shawn, made no response instead he just pointed with a shaky paw up at the sky.
Fredrick looked up and felt his heart sink immediately.
A shiny Charizard flying out the distance then it turned around and started flying straight for them. Fredrick's heart started pounding hard in his chest. 'That has to be him! Oh, Arceus we're so dead!'
"RUN!!" Scarlet screamed
They all made a break for it but unfortunately couldn't get away fast enough the Charizard had landed right in front of them.
They all came to a terrified stop. Frederick looked up at the big black Charizard, his red eyes were burning with murder in them.
