Chapter 16 The First Step For War

Denny's P.O.V.

Charlie was leading the way as they padded on through the woodland. "Where are we going?" Shawn asked.  "To the sky tower," Charlie answered. "I know a lot of Pokemon there."
Shawn stiffened. "But don't the legends say that's where Rayquaza lives? our mom told us when we were kids" Denny remembered during a time when it was thunder storming, they were all hiding inside, and Juile told them the story of Rayquaza, thinking of Juile made Denny's heart ach. 'don't worry I'll avenge you mother!
Denny was thinking of how unfair her death was, burning away like paper because she was a grass type. 'Darle will know what it's like when I wash him away!
Charlie answered Shawn's question. "Yeah he does live there, along with more flying types"
Shawn stopped in his tracks his fur standing on end. "I'm not going, I don't want to!" Denny felt frustrated. "Oh, come on Shawn don't be scared, we're just passing through." Shawn sat down "You can't make me! what if he eats us!" Charlie laughed "Good thing I'm an electric type" He looked at Denny. "What do you say? Are you up for this?" Denny felt puzzled as he raised an eyebrow at the Jolteon. "Up for what? We are just passing through right?" Charlie shook his head "You see Darle grew up there, and Rayquaza knows him, Darle got banned from the sky tower, and Rayquaza doesn't like Darle, not one bit. You see where I'm going with this?" Shawn froze. "Oh Arceus I'm not up for that!" Charlie laughed. "Haha yea I didn't think so, I was asking Denny."
Denny looked at Charlie "You want to challenge him? But I'm a water type, and he's a dragon and flying type" Charlie smiled. "You have a great advantage, we both could beat him, if you use ice attacks that will do a great number on him plus I will be with you" Shawn ran up to Denny. "No! You can't Denny this is crazy don't do it!"
Denny pushed Shawn away. "Shut up, I'm thinking." Shawn paused. "why don't you just ask for his help?" Charlie laughed "Haha Shawn you are funny, don't you know how legendary Pokemon work? They only help if you can prove you are worthy enough to earn it." Denny glanced at Charlie. "I haven't learned any ice moves yet, I only know a few water moves and that's it." Charlie sighed. "Well, we better start practising then." Shawn walked up to Denny. "I could go for some battle training I got moves to practice too."
"OK," Denny got into a battle stance. "Ready Shawn?" Shawn nodded Charlie sat down to watch. "Try to focus on cold, you want ice, not water"
"Um, okay," Denny looked at Shawn and tried to focus on being cold. He shot out water and it splashed Shawn. Shawn yelped and shook the water from his fur. "It just has to be windy today! I'm getting cold" he complained. "Well sorry to tell you Shawn but you're gonna get colder, when I hit you with ice!" Denny snapped. "What?" Shawn jumped out of the way as Denny shot at him again, then he used a shadow ball and it hit Denny.
Denny got up feeling frustrated he made another attempt with the ice beam, but a hydro pump came out instead. "Waah!" Shawn got pushed backwards and fell to the ground. Denny jumped on him then finally an ice beam hit him.
Charlie jumped up cheerfully. "You did it! do another one!" Shawn looked up at Denny. "Please don't" Denny ignored him and shot him again. Shawn snarled with annoyance before getting back up. "Did Dad not tell you you're supposed to stop when the other Mon shows mercy!" Denny glared at Shawn. "Yeah, well Dad's not here now is he?" Worry flashed in the Umbreon's red eyes. "So what are saying? You're gonna finish me off!"
Denny shook his head. "Relax Shawn, it was just one more hit, I needed to be sure I had the hang of it" Shawn shivered then glared back at him.
"Yeah, well now I'm cold!" Charlie frowned at Shawn. "You are quite the complainer, aren't you?" Denny scoffs. "Hah, Yeah, Scarlet!" He teased. Shawn looked at him and then frowned. "Was that supposed to be funny? because it wasn't" Charlie let out a huff and then started walking away. Are you guys coming? The sky tower isn't far from here." Denny started to follow. Shawn stayed close to him. "What about me? I'm not gonna be part of the fight." He confirms. The Vaporeon rolled his eyes.
"Then don't you can just watch."
"And maybe learn something from it." Denny muttered under his breath. "What?" Shawn asked then glared at Denny. "Couldn't hear you, bro, mind repeating that?" Denny snapped at him. "I said just watch!" Shawn flinched looking hurt for a second until he heard an unsettling sound.
"RAORRRR!" Shawn froze all his fur rising up along his back. "D-did you hear that?"
"No Shawn it's only you, of course, I heard it!" Denny snapped then Shawn jumped in front of Charlie. "I think we should turn back, there's got to be a better way!" Charlie looked annoyed. "Just calm down or it will hear us before we even get there"
"Wait what if it does? will we die?"
"Well I know who's gonna die soon if they don't shut up," Denny growled. Shawn looked at Denny with fear in his eyes. "What?!" He turned tail and ran the other way.
'Ug stupid' Now why would I do that? idiot! Denny thought with frustration.
"Shawn! Wait," Denny ran after him and grabbed him. "I'm your Brother, have you lost it?' I would never hurt you." 'Not like I'm gonna hurt Fredrick one day! he betrayed me. And it still hurts but I'll get over it. He secretly thought to himself.
Shawn looked at Denny "No, Denny, I can't do this!" He started crying Denny hugged him. "It's ok Shawn you don't have to, I will."
'Although I wish you would. He couldn't help thinking. "No, I don't want you to either! I'm scared I don't wanna lose you!"
"You won't lose me, I'm gonna win this battle, it will be alright." Charlie walked up to them. "We're wasting time here, We better get going."
"Come on Shawn we have to go." They all continued walking, till the sun started going down. "Well, we're here this is the sky tower. "Denny looked ahead there was a tower that went all the way up in the clouds. Shawn was standing on his hind legs looking up trying to see the whole tower. "I can't even see the top, please don't tell me we have to go all the way up there?" Shawn asked as he got back down on all fours. "I'm scared of heights." Denny sighed. "Is there anything you're not scared of?" Charlie laughed. "Don't worry there's an elevator, it will take us up to the tower." Charlie padded up and pushed a button and then the doors opened up making a buzzing sound and the lights were flickering on and off looking very sketchy.
Shawn frowned. "Umm, I don't think I trust that..." He trails off in a whimper. Denny inhaled a deep breath and then exhaled trying not to lose his patience with his brother. "Well, are you gonna climb it then?" He asked with some criticism in his voice. Shawn shook his head. "Um, Nope! I don't wanna go up there, it's too high." Then he found a spot near a tree and sat down. "I'll just simply wait here." He said.
"Well sorry to say Shawn but we're going up there like it or not." Denny confirmed. "No! You can't make me!" Shawn hissed. "Oh yes, I can!"
Denny grabbed him, and Shawn started having a panic attack. "No! Let me go! I don't want to!" "Your acting like a little Eevee now stop it!" Denny growled. Shawn pushed Denny away then used a dark plus Denny dropped him and used water. "Please Denny don't make me!" Shawn cried. "Well, we can't just leave you here it's dangerous." He glanced at Charlie. "Right?" The Jolteon nodded. "Oh yeah, this place is known for crimes." Shawn pushed Denny away and tried to run, then Charlie used a thunder wave and Shawn fell to the ground. "I can't move!!" He struggled on the grass trying to move but it did him no good. Charlie ran up and grabbed his legs "Hurry Denny you get his arms!" Denny grabbed Shawn's arms and they carried him to the elevator Shawn screamed. "Nooo!! Let me go please!!" Denny slapped his tail over Shawn's mouth. "Your making too much noise stop it!" He snapped. They carried Shawn in and put him on the ground Shawn was struggling. "Let me out!" The doors closed and they started going up Shawn started breathing fast. "I'm gonna be sick!" Denny sat on the floor with Shawn. "It's ok Shawn calm down, Your panicking too much, you're just gonna make it worse the more you panic." Shawn looked at Denny. "You should have let me stay down there, I can't do this." His voice cracked and tears were coming out of his eyes. The elevator started shaking Shawn jumped to his paws. "What's happening? is it supposed to do that?" Charlie sighed. "Looks like the thunder wave wore off." Denny grabbed Shawn. "Look at me you're gonna be just fine." Shawn looked at Denny then it started shaking again. "Oh, Arcues we're gonna fall!" Denny held Shawn down. "Shawn you leave me no choice." Shawn looked at Denny. "Oh no! Please don't!"
"I'm gonna have to put you out." Denny got ready for a hydro pump then Charlie stopped him. "Wait we're here" The doors opened up, and Shawn immediately ran outside. Denny followed him. "See Shawn that wasn't so bad, right?"
Shawn glared at Denny. "I'm never going back in there again! I can't believe you made me do that!"
Denny frowned. "I only made you because I care about you Shawn, if we left you alone down there some bad Mon might jump you and do who knows what to you." Shawn opened his mouth to say something but then he got cut off.
"ROAR!" Shawn froze in terror then slowly turned around to look right into the eyes of Rayquaza. Denny stared back in fear. "holy shit he's a big Pokemon!"
The Rayquaza glared at Shawn. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" Shawn yelled in terror "AWE!!" He ran right into Denny, He grabbed Shawn. "your freaking out stop it now!" Shawn got back up and blindly ran over to the edge of the tower. "SHAWN NO!" Denny ran over to him and caught Shawn just in time. He was dangling over the edge. "Denny! Help me!! Help me!!" He was screaming and panicking. Denny felt worried. "Shawn stop moving! I can't hold on!" Shawn finally stopped struggling. "Hurry! Pull me back up now!" Denny pulled hard holding on tightly to his younger brother. "I won't let go!" He growled Charlie ran over and helped Denny pull Shawn up, and the Rayquaza appeared again. "WELL, I'M WAITING!!" Shawn hid behind Denny and Charlie. "Don't eat me!!" Charlie looked at Denny. "We have to put him out he's causing too much stress." Denny nodded and hit Shawn with the hydro pump. "Wait, Denny, I'm sorry, don't put me out!" Denny did another attack, then he finished him off with an ice beam. "Good now let's just lay him off to the side" Charlie grabbed Shawn and dragged him close to the elevator. "There he will be safe here, and out of the way." Denny sighed and then looked at Charlie. "OK let's do this, I'm ready"
The Rayquaza looked at them. "What's wrong with him?" Charlie walked up. "Ray, it is me, Charlie, we need your help" Ray looked at Denny "Who is this?" Denny padded up to make eye contact. "I'm Denny." Charlie looked at Ray. "He's my foster son." Denny glared at Charlie. "Your, not my Father!" He growled. "Well I'm the one raising you."
"I don't need you to look after me, I can handle myself now." Denny retorted then looked back at Ray.
Ray growled. "Well if you want my help you will have to earn it with a battle!" Denny stepped forward. "So be it!"
"Ok!" Ray flew up and came at Denny with a dragon claw Denny jumped aside dodged it then used an ice beam, Charlie used thunder along with the ice beam attack, and Ray roared. "Raaa!" Then he used dragon pulse and it hit Charlie. "Oww!" Charlie fell back, Denny ran at Ray with another ice beam, but this time he missed and Ray went at Charlie again, he grabbed the Jolteon and flew up, and then he dropped Charlie, Charlie hit the ground hard and then he struggled to get back up. Ray was coming for Charlie again Denny got furious and used blizzard. "Raaaa!" Ray spun around and glared at Denny. "That's right try me!" Denny challenged and Ray flew up and grabbed the Vaporeon, then Denny used an ice beam right in his face, he let go at once and Charlie got back up and used a thunderbolt then Ray flew at Charlie and finished him off with a dragon pulse Charlie fell unconscious to the ground. Denny felt some pressure now realizing it was just him now.
'Oh great now it's just me. Denny used ice beam, then right away blizzard.
Ray fell to the ground. "Ra! Ok, I had enough you have my support." He looked at Denny. "Tell me young Denny, what would you like me to do for you?" Denny looked at Shawn and then at Charlie. They both fainted and then he thought of all the shiny Pokemon, how mean and selfish they were, thinking they were better than everyone. 'Even Fredrick didn't want to escape with me. This is my chance!
Feeling lots of hate towards Shiny Pokemon Denny sat down and said in a cool tone of voice. "I'm gonna be having a war with Darle and I want all the Shinies dead! every last one of them!" Ray looked Denny in the eye. "Is this what really you want?" Denny held Ray's gaze. "It is."
"Alright so be it, just give me a Signal when you need me, and I will do as you wish."
