Chapter 57 Change of Heart

Fredrick's P.O.V.

Everyone surrounded Jennifer who was in pain from severe burn marks. Fredrick had given her some rawest berries to help while Lupin had his head down. "So what now? Denny knows where we are right now... I think we should move." Fredrick felt anxious. "Jennifer's too weak to move she needs rest." Roary let out a small growle. "Well we'll have to carry her to a decent hiding spot... or we will be found... we can't risk that or he'll finish the job on her." Fredrick felt more panicky as he stared at her crystal fur that had almost melted Jennifer was exhausted she opened her eyes and slowly got up. "Oww.. oww." She whimpered shakily getting up. Kyle ran up to her "What are you doing? You're in no condition to walk." She looked at Fredrick "I don't want to stay here... I'm scared he'll be back and if he gets us we're all going to die." She said sounding scared. Fredrick walked up letting her lean on him for support with Roary on the other side. They slowly started moving and Kyle took the lead. "We won't travel far today we just need to find a safe place for now." Fredrick looked at Jennifer and it was like he was seeing her for the first time. She's beautiful... and all I've ever done was ignore her even though she always wanted to spend time with me... I guess I just didn't think she would like me.
He sighed. "Jennifer, I'm sorry for what I said during the battle... I guess all ever think about is the Mons I've lost... but I should be thinking of the ones I have now. Seeing you being burned alive... I was scared I was gonna lose you two." She blinked at him and blushed a little then her gaze hardened. "You know Fredrick it's kinda selfish to always feel sorry for yourself... You haven't lost everything you have me. And you have Lupin." Lupin looked back with a warm smile. "Hehe, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon Fredrick we've been friends since the day we met as kids." Roary gave a friendly shove "Dum Furball you also have me... I'll always have your back you know that." Then Kyle barked. "you know Fredrick I'm very glad I got to meet you when I did I enjoy your company... you may have lost your family but who needs that when you got friends? I can relate because my family is gone too." Fredrick then felt guilty and ashamed.
Oh, Arceus... they're right Denny hasn't taken everyone away... it's as if they are my family
He nodded. "Yeah. I'm sorry." Jennifer gave him a quick lick on the cheek taking him by surprise he felt his face heat up as he stared into her blue eyes... Is this how Denny felt about Jessie?.... Am I falling in love?
Then it hit him "Jessie! We have to find her before Denny does!" Roary shook his head. "We need to think of our safety first.. sorry to say but if we get caught then there is nothing we can do for her." Then finally after walking for an hour, they found a spot that was well hidden by bushes and laid Jennifer down. Lupin stood up. "Well since I'm a dark type I'll keep watch." Jennifer shot him a glare "ok.. but you better take it seriously... it's no time for jokes." The Mightyena just grumbled. "Oh, whatever... I just like to try and make things seem better than they are." Fredrick went to sit beside the shiny Glaceon. "I can't believe he tried to burn you alive... I thought he would have just killed you did you do something to upset him?" He asked and she nodded. "Yeah, I tried to escape of course. I almost did... but I guess he picked up my fear. It was terrible are you sure he's not just physically insane? Because he looked it.... which scared me more." She shivered. "I'm sorry but your brother has a serious mental issue it was just sickening... it still makes me sick knowing that I'm probably the only one who got away... and that's only because you found me." Fredrick nodded. "We heard you scream for help... I was so scared we weren't gonna make it." She frowned. "So.. if I hadn't screamed?" Fredrick looked down at his paws. "Then we never would have found you... you would have died." She rubbed her cheek up against his. "Oh, thank Arceus you came...I was hoping for something more to life before I die... like having a mate and having kids of my own." Fredrick felt a warm feeling as she said that. She purred then let out a yawn and he nudged her gently. "Well, now you have that chance... you have your whole life ahead of you now." He felt shy towards her.
But do I deserve her? After the way I behaved?
she leaned on him and closed her eyes falling asleep and Fredrick gave her a small kiss on the cheek. From now on I'm gonna stop thinking about the past... it's time to move forward in life if I want to find happiness again.
Then another painful thought hit him
It's time to let go.
He glanced at his paw with a scar on it remembering his past with Denny they had been best friends.... they always got into trouble together he even remembered the times were Denny would stick up for him and always have his back but now...
It's like you died and a new Mon was reborn inside you... I guess Denny will be gone forever and now I need to accept that... I have no siblings anymore... I have friends and that's good enough.
