Chapter 21 A Disagreement

Shawn's P.O.V.

Shawn was sitting outside looking at the night sky thinking. 'It's been two moons since our battle with Kyogre and more Pokemon are joining us in the battle, I don't know how Denny does it.
"Hey, Shawn!" He looked to see Denny running towards him then he sat down beside him, Shawn growled. "I thought you would still be talking to Charlie." He criticized. Denny frowned. "Why don't you like Charlie?" Shawn glared at him. "Umm because he's a liar."
"And how do you know that? you don't even know him."
"Yeah, and I don't want to know him." Denny growled "Well whatever then." He looked at Shawn "I know it doesn't seem like it, but I care about you more than I could care about Charlie or Zeta, you're my brother Shawn." Shawn felt happy hearing that. 'Ah, good so he hasn't forgotten about me after all.
"Shawn?" Shawn tilted his head curiously. "Yeah?"
"This battle means a lot to us... I want you to fight beside me" He met Denny's gaze. "Are you sure you're not gonna be fighting with Charlie? Or Zeta?" Denny shook his head "I'm certain of what I want, you and me this is our destiny we will win this battle together." Shawn smiled "Yeah, with Scarlet and Fredrick." Denny seemed to pause for a moment which made Shawn feel puzzled.
"Shawn, can you make me a promise?"
"Umm, sure..." Denny stepped closer to him."
"Do you promise to stay loyal to me no matter what?" Shawn felt taken off guard by the question. He thought it seemed like an odd thing to ask and he got a bad feeling about it. "Why would you ask that? you know the answer is yes."
Denny sighed "Good, I was just having some concerns that's all"
"Why would you be concerned about me?" Shawn asked. "Because you always eavesdrop on my Conversations and spy on me, when you do that I feel like you don't trust me." Denny answered.
Shawn looked down at his paws. "It's not that I don't trust you, I just don't feel comfortable around Zeta I think he's no good, same with Charlie sometimes." Denny looked away. "Well you can think what you want, but that isn't true Shawn." Then he got up and padded towards the river. "Maybe one day you'll finally trust them." He added then dived into the water. Shawn sighed then found a place to sleep under a tree 'I'm never gonna like Charlie. He's a good-for-nothing liar, and Zeta is a total nutcase I'm not even ganna look in his Direction. Shawn thought to himself as he fell asleep. Shawn woke up when someone pawed him in the side. "Hey, Shawn are you up?" Shawn opened his eyes to see Charlie standing in front of him. "What do you want?" Charlie shuffled his paws seemingly nervous. "Denny wants us to battle train together. I just so happen to be a good teacher and you could use the practice." Shawn felt annoyed. 'Denny's trying to get me to spend time with Charlie so I'll like him ...... Well, it isn't going to work! Charlie looked at him "So what do you say?" Shawn got up "Let's get this over with so I can go hunt after, I'm hungry." Charlie frowned. "We could eat first if you like, I thought maybe we could hunt together." Shawn shook his head. "I only hunt with Mons I care about, and that isn't you!" Charlie's fur spiked up. "I'm gonna remind you that I saved your life when you were just an Eevee, I could have died!" Shawn glared back at him. "And I'm gonna remind you that our dad is the one that saved your life!" Charlie's ears drooped. "look Shawn I'm not planning to kill him or anything like that." Shawn got mad he knew he was lying. "Then why are you planning on fighting him? Is it because you are jealous of something you couldn't have?" Charlie's ears pinned back and he revealed his sharp teeth letting out a growle. "I was meant to be with Juile!, Richard stole her from me!" He snarled, Shawn got mad and used a shadow ball and it hit Charlie, he got up and used pin missle then the nettles got stuck in Shawn's fur. "Oww!" Then he got hit with a thunderbolt right after and Shawn fell on the ground then Charlie held him down
"Errr! Get off!" Shawn used dark pulse, then foul play Charlie went flying backwards then Shawn jumped to his paws and used psychic Charlie snarled. "That's enough I had it!" He started walking away. "I try to be nice to you but you don't let me if you're gonna be that way fine, be my guest!" Shawn snarled "Fine by me! Leave me alone I want nothing to do with you!" Charlie looked hurt and he paused for a bit. "What did I ever do to you, Shawn? whatever it is I'm sorry." Shawn growled "If you're sorry then you will leave my father alone, if you have a problem with him, then you got a problem with me too. Charlie looked sad "Oh, Shawn, I feel sorry for you."
Shawn felt puzzled by that response the way Charlie had said it. It was like he knew something that Shawn didn't. "Hu? Why say that?" Charlie didn't answer he just walked away.
Shawn felt more frustrated. "No! I feel sorry for you. You can't get over something that happened years ago!" He mumbled under his breath.
Kevin walked up to him. "Hey, what's going on here?" Shawn glared at him then sighed. "It's nothing." Kevin sat down with him. "Hey, if you need someone to talk to I'm always around."
Shawn frowned. "I said I don't want to talk about it." Kevin glanced at him calmly. "You know I sorta noticed that you get upset when your brother talks with Charlie." Shawn felt annoyed.
'Did he not hear me just now? why is everyone bugging me! Shawn sighed. "I just wish Denny would see what I see sometimes, he doesn't realize that half the things Charlie say are bullshit!" Kevin met his gaze "You're going through something emotional right now, maybe it's because you miss your family." Shawn looked down at his paws he couldn't help but miss Scarlet. 'She had always listened to me no matter what.... Even if I was Rambling on about nonsense. She always had something funny to say in response. "Tell me about it." He grunted in response. "Denny is all I have right now, but he hardly wants anything to do with me. It seems like he would rather hang around Charlie or Zeta!" Kevin was quiet for a bit. "Well is Charlie all that bad? I mean you could probably spend more time with your brother if you could just accept him." Shawn rolled his eyes. "Or if only Denny would realize how pathetic Charlie is would be nicer." Kevin laughed. "Ha! Oh, come on Shawn, I think you just hate him because you hate the idea of a Second dad." Shawn growled "Charlie is not a dad to me or Denny!" Kevin frowned. "Well you don't even know Charlie, I think you should get to know him before you decide you hate him." Shawn glared at him. "Umm, do you even know Zeta?" Kevin glared back. "Of course I do we come back a long way."
"Oh, so your aware that he's a total nutcase then?" Kevin growled, "Umm, that was kind of rude, if you think you're so smart do you even know your own brother?" Shawn laughed. "Yeah, of course I do."
"Oh ok so if Zeta is insane then why does Denny have a connection with that?" Shawn got mad "Well you grew up with Zeta why do you have a connection with him?" Kevin's fur bristled. "What are your suggestions here?" Shawn felt bad he looked down at his paws. "I'm sorry Kevin I trust you, I went a little too far." The Arcanine glared at him for a moment and then got up and started walking away. He paused. "I think you should give both of them a chance instead of judging them all the time." He said before leaving. Shawn sat by himself for a bit.
'Maybe I should go find Denny. He thought heading off through the undergrowth. As
Shawn was walking through the forest he paused when he heard battle cries. He ran towords it feeling worried. 'What if Denny's in trouble?'
He stopped when he got close enough and hid in the bushes and watched. There were lots of Pokemon fighting each other. Shawn felt puzzled trying to warp his head around what he was looking at. 'I suppose they're training for something? Then his eye caught sight of a Vaporeon sitting on a rock watching them.
"Don't forget this is a war there is no mercy!" He yelled and Shawn felt shocked.
'That's Denny! Where did all these Pokemon come from? And why is Denny ordering them around like that? Shawn got a bed feeling he didn't like what he was seeing. He closed his eyes feeling frustrated. 'Why hadn't he told me about this?
He looked again and noticed this wasn't even normal training. Some of them were badly bleeding while others were wounded. Then he noticed Zeta was also fighting ."You're all pathetic! Do you want to die in the war? we're facing shiny Pokemon they are powerful compared to us do better!" He ordered.
Shawn slowly backed away. He had seen enough
'I can't believe this, Denny never even told me about all these guys! He lied to me!
Shawn shifted a rock by accident with his paw. "What was that?" He heard Denny's voice and Shawn stiffened up with panic.
'Oh, No! I can't let Denny find out spied on him again! I gotta get out of here!
He heard paw steps coming towards him and he got scared and ran away. "He's getting away catch him!" He heard Denny order them. Shawn ran harder filled with fear.
Their all chasing me! I can't let them see me, I have to hide!
He looked at the river. 'No, that's a bad idea Denny can swim. Then he looked at a tree.
'Perfect! Vaporeon aren't very good climbers, but I have to hide my sent first.
Shawn jumped in the river then after that he raced over to the tree and jumped on a branch and dug his claws in, soaking wet he quickly made his way to the top and stayed still, hiding in the leaves. 'If only it was dark out. He thought. then Zeta walked under the tree and sniffed around. A Midnight form Lycanroc joined him. Shawn's heart pounded in his chest as he silently pleaded to Arceus. 'Please don't let them spot me, or recognize my sent. Denny finally joined them and looked around. He looked at Zeta. "I'm gonna check the river, you keep looking!" Zeta growled, "I bet it was your brother spying on us!"
"Oh, We'll find out soon, and it better not be Shawn!" He dived into the water and Shawn swallowed nervously. 'Oh, Arceus what's going on? What will they do to me if they find me?
Zeta started walking away from the tree. "I'll go this way, you go the other way got it?"
Zeta asked the lycanroc. He nodded and ran off in the other direction while Zeta took off the other way. Shwan stayed where he was. He watched the river. 'If I knew Denny he would be waiting in the water for me to come out of my hiding spot, just like he used to do when we played hide and seek as kids.
Shawn made himself comfortable in the tree.
'I guess I'm gonna be here for a while I'm not taking any chances, I can't let Denny catch me spying again! Shawn stayed in the tree until it got dark out and then he finally made his way down.
Once he was on the ground he let out a sigh of relief and slowly padded back to his den.
'I made it! Then his stomach growled. 'I didn't even get to eat yet, I hid in a tree all day.
Then suddenly Denny approached. "Ahh!" Shawn jumped in surprise then instantly got nervous.
"H-hi Denny you scared me."
'Idiot don't act suspicious! Shawn thought to himself as he was fighting panic. Denny walked up to him. "I haven't seen you all day Shawn, What were you doing today?" Shawn felt panic 'Oh, Arceus what do I say? I did nothing today!
"Umm, I was talking to Keven Earlier today." He said. Denny glared at him. "But where were you this afternoon? No one could find you." Shawn felt nervous. "Oh, you were looking for me?"
Denny nodded now looking frustrated. "Yeah, it's a little weird that you just vanished all day, I asked Charlie, I asked Keven, no one knew where you were."
"Umm, I just wanted to be on my own today. So I went exploring deep in the Forest."
"Hmmm, is that so? Why would you do that?" He questioned further and now Shawn was getting mad. He growled, "Because you never want anything to do with me! I hate Zeta and Charlie, I might as well be out of the picture!" Denny went quiet, and then Shawn felt more hurt. "You always get mad at me! And then hang around with Zeta and Charlie, I don't belong here!" Then he turned and ran off. "SHAWN!" He heard Denny calling after him. Shawn ignored him and kept running. I don't even know my brother anymore! Everything he does is a secret. And I can't ask what he was doing earlier today because I'll be in trouble if I do, what is going on in my life?!
He ran until he got tired and stopped.
'What am I supposed to do? Where do I even go? Denny doesn't want me around, if he found out I spied on him would he kill me over it?
Then suddenly Denny jumped on him and pinned him down. "Shawn you can't run out on me! I need you!" He said and then used hydro pumped Shawn yelled. "You're hurting me stop it!" Denny held him down harder and bit him. "Oww!" Shawn used a Shadow ball but Denny just moved out of the way and used an ice beam. Shawn struggled. "let me go! You can't do this!" Denny glared at him. "So what? Are you planning on leaving? What about me? What about the battle? What about our siblings? How about dad? You're gonna do that on your own?" Shawn didn't answer he started crying then Denny got up and pulled Shawn up. "Shawn, Look I'm sorry, you only get left out because you always try to avoid everyone and I can't always be with you, I'm busy preparing for the battle." Shawn wiped his tears away. "But it's hard to like someone when they plan to hurt Dad."
"Well, what about Charlie? Doesn't he deserve to be happy? All he's trying to do is get you to like him, but you don't give him the chance." Shawn sighed. "Fine, I'll try to give him a chance." Denny gave him a nudge. "Come on we should get back, tomorrow I want you to stay with me the whole day, we'll practice together Plus there are some Pokemon I want you to meet."
"Ok," Shawn got up and followed Denny back home.
