Chapter 12 Broken Heart

Denny's P.O.V.

It was early in the morning and Denny was in the water floating on his back thinking of his past with Fredrick. He remembered the shiny Eevee would look up at him and smile. "Hey, Denny are you up?"
"What? it's the middle of the night what do you want?"
"I'm bored let's go for a walk."
Denny would grumble. "Ok, fine but don't get me in trouble like you did last time."
They had sneaked out that night.
Denny sighed as he lifted his paw to look at it frowning. 'I miss Fredrick why does it seem like we had more in common than the others?
He got out of the water. 'maybe I should find a water stone after all, going to the water makes me feel better when I'm down. But then yet again I want to be in the ice mountains one day maybe I should find an ice rock. "Hey, Denny why are you up so early?" Shawn suddenly broke his thoughts. Denny turned to see the Umbreon sitting there with a puzzled look on his face.
"What's wrong?" His brother asked. Denny sighed. "Shawn, do you ever think of how different our lives would be if Charlie had been our father instead of Richard?"
Shawn's eyes grew wide with shock. "You did not just say that!" Denny growled. "Well just think about it! if Charlie had been with Juile she would still be alive, and Fredrick and Scarlet would be here with us right now!" Shawn frowned. "Oh yeah, what about Darle? he would still have come after us no matter what." Denny smirked at him, "Umm, shinies are hiding from Darle just over in that forest right now, you idiot!"
Shawn flinched as if Denny had struck him.
"I can't believe you would betray our father like that, what's wrong with you?"
"Richard ruined our lives! Just look where we are right now, None of this would have been our problem if he had just told the truth about Charlie."
"Arrg! I can't even look at you right now." Shawn ran off. Denny sighed 'Why did I have to get stuck with Shawn?' I mean I do care about him, but we do not see eye to eye like the way Fredrick and I did, Fredrick took shit from no one, and he never backs down from a fight, while Shawn is cowered.
Denny walked past the den. Charlie came outside. "Hey, where are you going? Did you Decide what you want to evolve into?" The Jolteon asked. Denny looked up at him. "I'm going to the ice mountains to find an ice rock." Charlie looked surprised. "What? When will you be back?"
"I don't know I'm hoping in just a day or two I only need to find an ice rock," he replied.
Charlie sighed "You're not taking Shawn with you?" Denny growled. "What for?" Then he took off before Charlie could argue with him any further. He padded on through the trees on his own. After walking for a while he started to get hungry Denny sniffed around then he spotted a pigeon, and he crouched down. 'If only I wasn't an Eevee anymore then hunting would be easier for me. Denny slowly crept forward then once he was close enough he ran out and pinned the pigeon down then riped its wings off so it couldn't fly away, then he bit its neck and it died, Denny sat down and started nibbling on it, once he finished his food he looked around and froze.
'I'm dangerously too close to the shiny forest. Denny slowly padded up to the borderline peering through the forest curiously.
'Hmm, Shawn's not here maybe I should.
Denny ran over the border and began sneaking into the trees. 'I know Darle's camp isn't that far from here. Denny was crawling close to the ground and watching the sky at all times, in case a shiny did spot him then he heard voices and he hid right away in the tall grass. He peeked through it and saw the same shiny Ninetales that had taken Fredrick and Scarlet away that same night Juile died. Denny fought the urge not to let out a growle.
'It's his fault that we didn't get away! If he hadn't taken Fredrick and Scarlet away we'd be just fine right now.
Cleo sniffed around then padded towards camp Denny climbed up a nearby tree so he could see better the shiny Ninetales was not alone a green Espeon and Golden coloured Flareon were with him. Denny got excited and had to hold his tail so it wouldn't wage. 'Fredrick!, Scarlet! They both evolved I'm the only one left to evolve.
Fredrick looked at the Ninetales "We've been battle practising all morning how long do we have to train for?"
"Hmm until you got the hang of your fire-type moves" Scarlet sighed. "I think I'm getting the hang of it I learned three different moves now."
"Yeah but you got more to do before your training is complete, I'm going to do a test with your loyalty, Scarlet comes back to camp with me."
Fredrick looked confused. "What about me?"
"I'm gonna trust you to come back to camp all on your own with prey, and if you're not back by moon high then Darle will come after you, got it?" Fredrick looked happy. "OK I got it, thank you Cleo I promise I will return."
"What about me?" Scarlet asked. "I will do the same thing with you tomorrow I just don't trust you both to be together, right now." Scarlet just sighed. "OK, I guess that makes sense." Then they both padded away leaving the shiny Flareon alone. Denny's heart skipped a beat.
'I can't believe my luck!
As soon as Cleo and Scarlet were gone Denny calmed down. "Psst.. hey!" He whispered, "Psst Fredrick over here!" Fredrick looked around confused then walked up to him and froze in shock once he spotted Denny sitting there, he looked shocked. "Denny? what are you doing here?" Denny ran up to him. "Isn't it obvious? I came to get you of course, I miss you Fredrick" Fredrick looked happy for a bit then his facial expression changed to a serious look.
Denny felt a bit puzzled by it. 'Isn't he happy to see me?
"you know you shouldn't be here right?"
Denny felt a little Frustrated. "I couldn't help it, Shawn drives me crazy sometimes, I was on my way to evolve then I came by the borderline and I thought of you." Fredrick dipped his head to Denny and smiled. "I am happy to see you." then he frowned. "But you have to go." Denny felt hurt by that answer and then glared at Fredrick. "No, don't you get it? I risked my life just to see you, Fredrick come with me please!"
Fredrick looked shocked. "I can't... I'm sorry."
Denny felt stunned for a bit.
He wouldn't actually prefer it here, would he? Has Darle gotten through to him? Does he think he's better now?
"Yes, you can, now come on! We can go to the ice mountains, it will be just the two of us! Darle will never find us." Fredrick had his head down. "What about Scarlet? I can't just leave her here alone." Denny rolled his eyes. "We will come back for her, you me, Shawn and Charlie We'll get a bunch of other Pokemon to help us."
Fredrick shook his head. "Look I really want to go with you but I just can't, I don't want to put your life at risk, I'm doing this because I love you, Denny." Denny was starting to get impatient with him. "Fredrick just think of what you're throwing away here, a chance to have freedom, a chance to live a proper life!, don't tell me you want to suck up to Darle for the next five years or so."
Fredrick looked upset as his ears drooped down.
"You shouldn't have come here Denny, you have to leave before someone sees you."
"No!" Denny snapped "I'm not leaving this forest without you, I didn't risk my life to be here for nothing!"
"But I can't just leave Scarlet, she needs someone to keep her company."
"Err! I'm sorry Fredrick but you leave me no other choice." Fredrick looked puzzled. "What?" Denny jumped at Fredrick and used a swift attack Fredrick flinched. "What are you doing? you're an Eevee you can't beat me! I'm not going with you, Denny!" Denny stopped. "You're a fool Fredrick! an idiot! I came here to save you because I care, and you're telling me to go?" Fredrick picked Denny up by the scruff and ran to the borderline then stopped. "Oh, you're lucky I didn't evolve yet!" Fredrick put Denny back down. "It was nice seeing you Denny but we will see each other again someday, please understand I just don't want to take any risks."
Denny glared at him. "You are coming with me like it or not!" Denny saw a river nearby and jumped at Fredrick and pushed him towards it. Fredrick looked shocked. "Are you trying to kill me!?"
"No, I'm just gonna knock you out, and bring you with me you'll thank me one day Fredrick!" Fredrick used a flamethrower, and Denny got hit hard by it. "Oww!" Fredrick stopped as a few tears began to form in his eyes.
"Don't make this harder than it has to be Denny!"
Denny stared at his brother in shock feeling more hurt than he ever had before, then he yelled at Fredrick. "Then shut up and come with me!"
He snapped. "Come on Fredrick! you were always the trouble maker now let's go!" Fredrick yelled. "For the last time I can't!"
Denny felt pain in his chest as it tightened up with grief.
'He's gone... He does think he's better than me. He wants to stay here with Darle.
Feeling heartbroken and defeated he started walking away. "Fine live your shitty life with Darle then!"
Fredrick looked sad. "I'm only doing what's best, please come back with an army to take down Darle." Denny gritted his teeth together and replied cooly. "Oh, don't worry Fredrick I will."
'I'm gonna make you regret this bro and that's a promise.
Fredrick now looked deeply upset. "Goodbye Denny."
Denny took off without looking back not wanting to see Fredrick's face anymore.
He felt his heart heavy in his chest.
'I was afraid this would happen! Why did I think I could trust them? WHY! Darle turned my family against me!
he kept running wishing he could just disappear as his emotions were getting the better of him.
'ERRR Stupid! stupid Fredrick! All this trouble for nothing!
He ran on feeling let down by his brother
'We could have grown up together, like normal brothers, but he chose to stay a prisoner!
Denny sat by the water's edge of a river with tears streaming down his face. He wiped his eyes and then glanced at his paw where he had a scar on it that only made the pain worse.
'You broke your promise!
"ERRRR!! I'LL KILL YOU DARLE!!" He shouted out loud not caring if anyone could hear him. "YOU RUINED MY LIFE! I HATE YOU!!" He screamed out unable to contain his anger and pain. "I hate Shiny Pokemon!, they think they're better than me? even Fredrick was too good for me?" He paused when he saw a water stone close by then he thought of the first time he sawm with Fredrick and Shawn. He remembered Fredrick sitting by the water.
'I could swim now, but one day it could kill me.
Kill Me.
Fredrick's words Echoed in Denny's mind. He grew a smirk on his face. 'Of course, I love the water and Fredrick is a fire type being a Vaporeon is my destiny, how did I not see it?, even Darle is a fire type, they all are.
Denny touched it with his paw and he glowed and changed form, then he looked at the river to see the new him.
'Time to head home now and prepare for war.

It was nightfall when Denny got back home Shawn ran up to him. "Denny! I'm sorry I got mad at you earlier." He froze as he realized Denny was a Vaporeon now. He chuckled a bit with a smirk on his face. "So, you choose to be a Vaporeon after all, I think you made the right decision." Denny had a smirk on his face as he answered in a cocky tone. "Hmm, indeed I did." And as he answered the Umbreon he pictured himself using water moves on Fredrick and beating him easily.
'Oh, Fredrick you are in for a great surprise when I come back for you! My brother, I'm gonna make you regret sending me away. You're gonna wish you weren't a shiny Arceus help you brother when I come for you.
