Author's POV

Cheryl and Camille were sitting on the couch, waiting for Kimberley to arrive home later that night.  Camille had phoned her Mum to tell her that she and Cheryl made up.  They decided to sit in the front room and just gossip and chat.

A ring echoed through the house, making Camille jump up to go answer the door.  When she looked through the peephole, she saw her boyfriend standing outside.

"Oh my god!" Wren said as he came bursting through the door "I've been worried sick about you!" He held Camille's shoulders and pulled her into a hug.

"Why?" The teen asked, confused and thinking that something must have happened.

"You haven't answered any of my calls or texts!" Wren exclaimed and didn't understand what was going on with Camille.  He hadn't known anything that had happened in the past few days.

"I'm sorry that I'm not addicted to my phone!" Camille said, getting annoyed at Wren's attitude towards her.

"You could have at least answered a text or thought about me at some point," Wren said, not knowing where his girlfriend has gone.  The person standing in front of him is an alien to him.

"You know what, I don't have time for this. I have a lot of things going on." Camille raised her voice and just wanted him to get out.  She didn't know what came over her but she wanted him out.

"Really? You don't have time for me?" Wren asked, getting angry that his girlfriend seems to be ignoring him.  First, she barely talked to him at the Showcase, talked to Rosie more than him, left without saying goodbye, then ignored all his texts and calls.

"No, I don't, Wren. Not all of my time is spent thinking about what you need." Camille snapped and looked away from Wren's sad gaze.

"Who ever said that? Maybe just a simple text." He said a bit more softly, wanting to fix the situation.

"Not everything is about you!" Camille said, letting all of her frustration build up.

"I know! 'Cause it's all about you, isn't it?" Wren raised his voice again, giving up on trying to speak to her softly.

"Ugh! Get out!" Camille shouted and shooed him out.  Tears suddenly fell down her cheeks as she forced Wren out of her house.  The teen scrunched up her hair in her hands and loudly shut the door.  She suddenly fell down to the ground with her back against the front door.  She listened to Wren's car door slam and drive away.

"Millie..." Camille heard her Mam's quiet voice as she let go of her hair. Camille saw her mother's sad expression and felt like she wanted to throw a fit.

"Why can't anything go right?" Camille wailed out and wished that there was a way for everything in her life to be all good.  There's always something wrong.

"Oh, baby," Cheryl rushed to the door and sat on the floor next to her daughter.  The teen laid her head on Cheryl's shoulder and cried her little heart out.

"I feel like we just confessed something that we've been holding back this whole time." Camille went on to cry and think about what just happened.

"It's just meaningless words, baby." Cheryl tried to tell Camille that it was all going to be okay and she and Wren will be back to normal in no time.

"No, it's not!" Camille muttered through her tears and sniffles "I don't even want to cry about it but I am." The teen leaned her head against the door and watched Cheryl copy her action.

"Mamma," Camille spoke up after a minute or so "Why does heartbreak exist?" She asked her mother and Cheryl was left speechless at the question.

"If God is meant to help us and be by our side, why does he bring us heartbreak?  Why does he make us meet people that will only scar us in the end?" Camille asked, speaking from her broken heart.
