Author's POV

Camille stood up and made everyone go deadly silent.  The whole restaurant seemed to go quiet as she stood up for herself and looked at everyone at the table.  She didn't have anything to say - what was she meant to say?

Cheryl hates James for the past, there's never been more rage in her heart. She loves Camille and would do anything for Camille. He walked away first, maybe they wouldn't be this broken if he had just stayed.

"Camille!" Rosie stood up and ran after her best friend as she didn't see anyone else bothering to.  Kimberley sprung into action, following the teens outside.

Camille walked into the cold breeze, feeling the tingling sensation tickle her cheeks.  She couldn't even feel the tears dropping from her eyes it was so cold.  After letting out a few sobs and sitting on a bench outside, she felt a hand on her back.

"Camille, it's freezing," Rosie said as she took off her cardigan and put it on the teen's shoulders.  As she did so, Kimberley came flying out of the busy restaurant.

"Millie, baby!" The mother bent down in front of her daughter, instantly wiping her tears away.

"I don't want to talk to you!" Camille tried to push Kimberley away, but the mother wouldn't allow it.  Someone has to take care of the broken soul and Rosie can't take it all on her own.

"I promise you, sweetheart, I have no idea what just went on in there.  You have to believe me, angel.  I'm on your side." Kimberley softly spoke as she brushed Camille's hair out of her face.  She needed Camille to believe her when she says that she's got an ally in this fight.

"Promise me?" Camille hiccuped.

"I promise, baby." Kimberley said, frowning at her upset daughter "C'mere." Kimberley sat down beside Camille and pulled her close.  She knew there was no use in trying to force Camille back inside, so they just sat in the cold together.

"C'mon, Rosie." Kimberley also had the teen sit beside Camille to keep her extra warm.  Rosie gladly sat down beside her friend and put her arms around her.

"I'm sorry that you both had to hear that." Kimberley apologized for the other's actions, feeling awful that Rosie was also a part of that argument.

"You know, my Mum and Dad used to fight all the time.  I'm used to it but I know how it feels, Camille.  Sometimes people aren't meant to be together and be around each other.  But if they really want to do what's best for their child, they do just that.  Anything a parent does is always in the best interest of their children." Rosie explained, getting Kimberley to show off her smile.

"That's right.  James and Cheryl didn't work out and they figured the system was what was best for you.  Even though I don't agree with that, you may have never even met me if it weren't for everything you went through.  I know it was hell but hasn't it brought you to heaven now?" Kimberley calmly spoke to her beautiful, crying daughter.

"It doesn't seem like heaven to me," Camille said as she looked through the window and saw Cheryl and James still bickering.

"Why did Gary do that?" Camille asked, wanting to know why her granddad would bring up salty wounds from the past.

"I don't know, sweetie.  I think something went down a long time ago that left Cheryl and her family bruised.  I've never really dared to ask about the past when it comes to James or her decision with you.  It looks like I'm a coward after all." Kimberley frowned as she wished for her daughter to have the euphoric life she's always deserved.

"You're not a coward, Mum.  You were just protecting Mam from having flashbacks." Camille cut Cheryl some slack, knowing that they've already discussed the past.
