Author's POV

Camille was upstairs working on her songs when she heard someone yelling.

"This is exactly why we should just tell everyone the truth, Kimberley!" Cheryl is yelling at Kimberley with a cold tone.

"Cheryl, she cannot live a life in the papers!  We can't do that to her, she doesn't want that!" Kimberley's tone matches Cheryl's, startling Camille who is upstairs listening to everything behind her closed bedroom door.

"How do you know?  How do you suddenly know everything about her?" Cheryl didn't believe that Kimberley was spending enough time with the teen.

"No one wants to live a life like that!  You don't even want to live a life like that...and you're the pop star!" Cheryl knew she was wrong, but a little part of her is right.

"People are going to write lies, I think we should tell people.  I don't want anyone else writing all this bullshit about me daughter!" The couple had gone to get lunch and they saw a magazine.  The title of the article itself enraged the couple.

'Cheryl Cole's Newest Addition Gets Slammed By the Public!'

The whole article was someone writing all about everyone's tweets and theories.  Some of the things people had said are bad and unrepeatable things about Camille.  It broke Cheryl's heart seeing the lying theories.

"We've only had her for two weeks, how do we know it's going to last?!  How do we know that she really does like it here?  How do we know that she won't leave us or something?  She could leave at any second and go straight back to those bitches who don't give a damn about her!" The couple had completely forgotten that Camille could hear everything they were saying.  The teen sat on her bed, lightly crying at Kimberley's words.  She doesn't want Kimberley to not trust her when she says that she really does want to be here.  She does, she really wants to be here.

"She would never!" Cheryl defended Camille, she would believe anything her daughter told her.  Camille is Cheryl's weakness, she'll always give in to her.

"How do you know that?" Cheryl went silent, Kimberley lost her cool with her.

"Exactly." With that Kimberley stormed out of the front room where they were yelling.

Cheryl doesn't know what to do, she doesn't usually fight with Kimberley. She feels vulnerable in this moment, needing to feel someone's touch. There's one simple solution to all her problems, and that's a hug from her daughter. She goes upstairs to Camille's room, but finds no one there.

Camille had snuck out to the back garden, not wanting to hear anymore of the argument. She's upset that her parents are fighting over her, she doesn't want to cause trouble.

Maybe I should go. I'm not good enough for Cheryl to tell everyone that I'm her daughter. I don't live up to her expectations, I never will.

Camille thinks to herself, zoning out everything. She's sat in one of the garden tables chairs, staring into her notebook.

She jumps once she feels someone's hand on her back. The teen turns around seeing a concerned Cheryl.

"Bubba, you could hear us walking over." Cheryl giggles lightly, confused on how she startled her.

"I was in outer space for a second, you scared me." Camille's heart slows down with the feeling of her mother's hands on her cheeks.
