Loss - Riker Imagine

Just a week ago, you had found out that your older brother had passed away in a severe car accident. Your boyfriend, Riker, has also been really close with him, and it effected the both of you.

Today was your brother's funeral. Your family, friends, family-friends, the Lynches, and Ratliff had come to support you because they knew how much your brother meant to you. You had made up a little speech to present in front all of your family and friends.

"To start," you say. "I'd like to thank all of you for coming out today. Dylan would've appreciated that," you pause. "So to go on, I have a story. I remember when Dylan and I were younger and we would always drive Mom crazy by taking all the baking supplies she had and covering each other in it. I also remember once that Dylan had tripped and sprained his ankle during one of our food fights," you pause for a breath, and everyone chuckles at the story. "And if Dylan were here, I know that he wouldn't want us to be upset that he's gone, but smile when we think of him."

You glance toward your mom, who just smiled at you with teary eyes beside your dad.

"Thank you all again for being here," you say, stepping away from the podium walking over to Riker, holding your tears in.

"It's okay, babe, you can cry," he says, trying not to cry himself.

You let out a small cry, leaning on Riker's shoulder, soaking his suit. He rubs your back in soothing circles, as you feel a few of his own tears falling into the top of your head.

-- after the service --

"Time to go to his burial," Riker says softly as he drives the both of you to your brother's burial.

You sniff. "Yep,"

Riker places his hand on your knee, caressing it. "Hey, c'mon babe. Dylan wouldn't want you crying, would he?"

"No," your voice cracks a little. "I just wish he was here."

"I know, I do too." Riker pulls into the parking lot of the location of your brother's burial.

-- after the burial, at home --

"What do you want to do now, Rike?" You ask your boyfriend as you both sit on the couch.

"I dunno," he says. "What about watching some comedies?"

"Yeah, okay," you agree. "Can we watch that home video first?"

You were referring to the one where Dylan was holding you for the first time when you came home as a newborn.

"Yeah, sure," Riker smiles slightly, putting in the DVD, cuddling with you on the couch.

"I'll be right back," Riker says after it ends.

He comes back with another DVD. On the cover it reads 'To (Y/N), I'll Always Love You xoxo Love, Dylan xx'.

You smile. "Where'd you get this?"

"Dylan and I made it for you," Riker says, putting it in the DVD player.

It starts out with Dylan on screen. "Hi (Y/N). So to start this, I'd like to say I love you. I know we fought a lot - remember that one time we - never mind," he pauses, chuckling at memory he was about to recall. "I hope you enjoy this little video I made for you, Riker helped me with editing."

The screen goes black, then Riker shows up. "Okay, hi (Y/N). Dylan wanted me to film him writing you this," Riker points the camera at a whiteboard, and Dylan standing in front of it. "Ok Dyl, go ahead."

Dylan starts to write things on the board. "Riker, zoom in on this," your brother whispers.

You see the camera zoom in on a little message that says 'This is for Riker: (Y/N) is sexy'. Dylan snickers, and you could imagine the pink tint on Riker's cheeks behind the camera.

You look up at Riker to see him blushing, just like you imagined.

"Okay, that's enough Dylan!" Riker laughs, pressing the button on the camera, making the screen go black again. It lights up again with Dylan.

"Hi!" He says, laughing a little. "Riker's wanting to talk in this, but I'm letting him - RIKER! JUST SHUT UP!" He laughs, as Riker comes behind him, pushing him.

"Hi babe!" Riker yells, laughing as well.

The screen goes black again, then words come up in slides.

The first one says 'Hi (Y/N),'

The second one says 'I love you very much, I know you know that,'

The third one: 'And here's one more little clip for you'

Then the home video that you and Dylan made yourselves when you were young and making cookies, both of your faces covered in dough.

"Oh my goodness, I remember that," you laugh as the screen goes black.

"See what I mean? Dylan wants you to smile at the thoughts of him." Riker says.

You smile, taking the DVD out, putting it back in its case, holding it in your hand, setting it on your mantle piece. "That'll stay there."

A/N: Hey!

Here's an imagine, I thought you guys would like a little switch up!

I cried a little writing this, but I know it's just an imagine.

Until next time,

~Ashley xoxo
