Seven Months Later...
--Julliet Parris--
"Guilia, could you tell Daddy to warm up Krys' bottle?" I asked Guilia as I tired to calm a fussy Krys down. "Ok baby, Mommy's getting your bottle." I cooed to him.
As Guilia predicted, Krystal gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby boy and we named him Krystopher. Sadly, Krystal died during labour. She knew that she was going to pass and that's why she asked me to adopt him even before birth. She explained everything in a letter to Geovanni, which we found a few days following her death. She had developed Gestational Diabetes and asked her OBGYN to do his best to save the baby instead of her.
I was hurt at first, because Krystal and I had become close. She was like a sister to me. The circumstances may not have been the best, but she had grown on me and I loved her.
I had told her during her labour when she squeezed tightly on to my hand during her contractions. It felt so natural.
"I know that this is weird and this many not be the best of situations, but I love you Julliet ." She said between deep breaths. "You've been so good to me and I know you'll be good to my baby. Thank you for everything." She breathed out.
"I love you too Krys, and you're welcome. You're such a amazing friend." She smiled weakly at me with tears in her eyes, before she looked over at Geovanni who was holding her other hand, looking at us weirdly.
"Geo, take care of my baby, Julliet and Guilia." She cried.
"I will." He promised. "You talking like you're going somewhere." He furrowed his brows at her as she just chuckled it off.
If only we had known. At 6:45 the following morning after thirteen hours of labour, Krystopher was born and Krystal had passed away half an hour later after spending the last few minutes of her life holding Krystopher. She died as he laid on her chest. We heard the heart rate monitor's beeps slow down and flat line, but Krystopher heard his mother's actual heartbeats fade before halting all together.
It was an emotional day for Geo and I. He spent hours comforting me and surpressing his own emotions. He had to be strong. I know that's how he felt. He had to have the strength for himself, me, Guilia and in that moment, Krystopher.
It wasn't until the night of Krystal's funeral that he had shown any real emotion. He stood in the nursery with a sleeping Krystopher in his arms and tears streamed down his face as his lip quivered. I had long accepted that at one point him and Krystal were friends and shared a bond which led to intimacy and regardless of the circumstances, I knew that he cared for her. Especially as the mother of one of his children. He had respect for her and cared about her.
Yes, we had went through with the paternity test and Geovanni was indeed Krystopher's father.
Geo swears up and down that he always used protection and after getting to know Krystal, I know that she wouldn't artificially inseminate herself. There was an accident somewhere and both of them missed it. I say accident because I trust that they both actually used protection and it was just that which caused Krystopher's conception, an accident.
"Here Mommy." Guilia's tiny voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Thank you, baby." I smiled at her as I took the bottle and began feeding Krystopher.
"When is Miss Krystal coming back for the baby, Mommy?" She asked like she always does.
"Guilia, remember Mommy told you that Krystal's with Jesus now?" She nodded. "She's not coming back. Jesus is keeping her forever."
"So the baby's ours now." She received.
"Yes." I've told Guilia this story over and over, but she's never really caught on to it. She keeps questioning it over and over.
"I miss Miss Krystal, Mommy."
"I miss her too, baby." I confided in her. "Tell Daddy to fix you some breakfast and I'll be down to fix him some."
"Ok." She nodded as she ran off to find her father.
Krystopher looked up at me with deep brown eyes like his father's as he sucked from his bottle.
"Baybeh?" Geo called.
"I'm in our room, G'." I called back. Moments later he came in and sat on the bed beside me.
"You don't gotta make me breakfast everyday you know." He said as Krystopher's eyes followed his voice and his eyebrows shot up in excitement at the sight of his father.
"I know. I just like doing it."
"Well you don't have to today, I ate cereal and Lia's having the same." He shrugged.
"Ok." I replied. He leaned over and kissed my cheek.
"I love you." He smiled. "You too, lil' man."
"We love you too, Papa." I smirked.
"You're trying to get fucked." He whispered in to my ear before nibbling on the lobe. "Be careful." He kissed my temple.
"I probably am." I smirked.
"You gon' gimme top?" He continued whispering in to my ear.
"Krystopher, tell your Daddy to stop being nasty." I chuckled.
"Your Momma started it Krys, she made Daddy believe he was gonna get some sloppy toppy last night and just ended up climbing on top." I hunched Geo.
"Stop. Don't tell him that." I scolded Geo. "Don't listen to, Daddy, baby. Mommy's a virgin."
"Only in your butt and that could be fixed." He whispered into my ear, making my eyes go wide.
"I'm putting parental control in your electronics. I think the porn has taken over." I said seriously, making him laugh.
"You might like it."
"I will not." I disagreed.
"You don't want me to take your ass virginity?" He questioned. "You took my lips' virginity." He bargained.
"And you took my actual virginity. We're even." I finalized. "Now, stop being so nasty." I scolded as I burped Krystopher.
"We'd try it once and if you don't like it, we won't do it again." He continued negotiating.
"Geo, no." I scolded. "And no more porn either."
"You're no fun." He huffed as he took Krystopher from me and left the room.
