--Geovanni Parris--

I sat in my office, toying with Julliet's wedding band between my fingers as I read the draft of my new will and testimony.

Jan had it emailed to me and I had to review it before I went ahead and signed it. I glanced down at the ring between my fingers before I pushed it back into my shirt. Yup, I was wearing my soon-to-be-ex-wife's ring around my neck on my chain.

It hurt me to even think that in a few months to a year, I'd be divorced from the love of my life. I clicked the "x" on the open document. I really didn't want to think about the divorce I was going through at the moment.

I wasn't even sure if I was going through a divorce anymore, because Julliet refuses to sign the papers at all.

Sighing, I shut down my computer and began packing my things to leave the office. The chimes on the door at the front of the store went off, causing me to huff.

"We're closed!" I yelled without looking up. I hurriedly finished packing my things and quietly slid my desk drawer open as I grabbed my gun from it. Grabbing my laptop bag, I threw the strap over my shoulder and and exited my office, locking the door behind me.

I walked further into the store thinking I had to kill someone, but relaxed a bit when I realized it was only Julliet, sitting on a chair in front of my cashier's counter.

She was wearing a beige trench coat, black boots and her hair was combed into a ponytail. I must admit, she looked amazing. She was back on track with her health, I guess.

It had been four months since we've seen each other and this moment felt surreal.

"I told them to tell you to find me and have a conversation with me to my face if you wanted a divorce." She  said. "But you never showed, so why the hell do you keep mailing me those damn papers?"

"Just sign them and let's move on with our lives, Julliet." I sighed.

"Why exactly are we getting divorced?" She asked.

"Does it matter?" I scoffed.

"Yes it does. Contracts don't end unless there's a breach." She countered.

"You're the one that called this thing we tried calling love a disaster right?" I questioned.

"I didn't mean to." She shrugged.

"You're doing fine without me anyway. You're glowing and shit." I indicated.

"Thanks." She blushed a bit.

"Yeah, you look amazing." I unintentionally complimented her.

"You look good yourself." She returned. We held each other's stares.

"Thanks." I nodded. "Listen, Jules, I think the divorce is what's best for the both of us. Especially you. You were right, all I did was put you through some shit and I just wanna see you happy, even if that means that you have to be happy without me." I sighed.

"I can't sign those papers, Geo." She shrugged. "I signed an oath that clearly states until death do us part." She shrugged. "Neither of us are dead and we did nothing to breach our contract." She shrugged again. "I could sign a legal separation if you like though." She suggested.

"Cool." I nodded. "I'd have the papers mailed to you." I nodded.

"Cool." She shrugged.  "Oh and, here." She said as she slid off of the chair, handing me a brown envelope. "Goodnight Geovanni." She chorused as she left my store.

"Goodnight Julliet." I released a breath I wasn't even aware that I was holding when she left.

I put my bag on the counter and ipped the envelope opened when she was gone and pulled out it's contents. I realized that they were only the torn divorce papers. I chuckled a little to myself and shook my head as I  proceeded to push them back into the envelope when I noticed something else in the envelope. Placing the torn contract on to the counter, I pulled out a sonogram picture from the envelope. Holding it between my fingers, I observed the little silhouette of the baby as my heart leaped in my chest.

Julliet's pregnant.

--Julliet Morrison-Parris--

I shrugged out of my trench coat, placing it on to the coat rack near the entryway of my house. I looked down at my ever growing baby bump as I rubbed it. I stepped out of my knee-high boots before I slowly made my way into the kitchen to make a peanut butter and pickle sandwich.

A knocking at the door stopped me in my tracks, causing me to turn and head back in its direction. I opened the door to reveal Geovanni standing there. His eyes immidiately went to my bump.

"Happy Birthday." I shrugged. Without saying anything, he stepped inside and closed the door behind him as one of his hands rubbed circles on my tummy. We held each other's stares as I allowed him to have his moment.

"Thanks." He finally replied.

"You're welcome." I whispered. Catching me off guard, he pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead.

At least he was happy. I thought.

--Geovanni Parris--

It was sometime after two in the morning when I made it to Elliott's place.

"These are booty call hours, Geovanni." Elliott's agg ass was up playing video games.

"Nigga, shut up." I mugged him.

"You finally went out and got laid?" He asked.

"No, I'm still married, idiot." I shook my head at him as I plopped down beside him. "Switch to two player." I demanded.

"Your birthday is over since two hours ago. Don't come up in here giving orders." He sassed.

"You play too much." I huffed.

"If you wasn't out getting birthday nookie, then where were you?" He asked.

"Julliet's." I shrugged.

"So you really did get birthday nookie." He assumed. "Good for you, player." He laughed.

"No fool." I narrowed my eyes at him. "Me and Julliet did not fuck." I defended.

"I bet you wish that y'all did though."

"I'm not going to front, yes I do wish that we had sex, but that's not the best move right now. It'll complicated shit." I explained.

"Oh yeah, pending divorce." Elliott sarcastically rolled his eyes. "She's never signing those damn papers, so you might as well go back over there and bend her over like you really want to." He shrugged.

"Could you be serious for once?" I asked.

"That was me being serious, dude. She doesn't want to be divorced and neither do you, but you got your ego bruised a bit because of some angry shity she said and you're ready to make her hurt the way you're hurt." He shrugged. "But you don't really want the divorce. If she actually signed those papers, you'd be losing your mind right now." He shrugged.

"We discussed legal separation." I informed him.

"Cool, and then what?" He asked.

"She's pregnant." I stated.

"Congratulations, now what?" He asked.

"You don't sound surprised." I pointed out.

"Cause I'm not. Her and Thalia have become closer. Thalia's been going to her appointments with her. She was there when she took the test. They told me to mind my own business and not to tell you until Julliet was ready." He shrugged.

"Oh." Was all I could say.

"She was a mess, Geovanni." Elliott continued. "You're my friend, so I just minded my business and supported you as I should, but Julliet needed someone and Thalia chose to be that someone." He shrugged. "Julliet only paid herself any attention and gave her self any care because she found out about the baby. The girl was a mess and you kept pushing them damn papers on her." He scoffed. "Thalia said she cried everytime she got them."

"I didn't mean to hurt her.i just thought that she would be better off without me." I argued.

"She may have overreacted about the call, but she had every right to feel like she did. Your patterns with women really did put her in the predicament she's in. She still has nightmares and she still experienced sleep paralysis from time to time. I'm not saying that you're a bad person, but your decisions haven't been the best." He highlighted.
