31. Hate

Ilang minuto na ang nasasayang sa pabalik-balik na tingin ko sa screen ng cellphone. Ilang beses na rin akong napapabuntong-hininga. Wala parin akong maisip na ireply sa kanya. Ngayong araw ay wala akong schedule na shooting, ngunit meron namang schedule para sa recording ng ost ng movie namin ni Paulo, we will sing together.

Muli na namang nagtext si Van. "Why aren't you answering my messages?"  Gusto ko siyang reply'an ngunit hindi ko mawari ang sarili kung bakit hindi ko kayang magtipa ng mensahe sa kanya. Napabuntong-hininga nalang ako.

"Okay ka lang, Xam?" Nilapitan ako ni Sir. Jonas, ang producer nitong kakantahin namin. Paulo isn't here yet. He's always on-time but now, he isn't.

"Just worried to Paulo. Asan na kaya yon?" I fake the worry face. Jonas laugh at me, he even tap my shoulder.

"Oh, millenial love… kahapon lang ay magkasama kayo, miss mo na agad?"

Bahagya akong natawa. "Hindi naman, Kuya Jonas. I'm just worried. Lagi naman yong on-time, minsan lang ma-late." I just shrugged when he playfully eyed me, i assured him. "Kuya Jonas…"

"Sa akin lang 'to ha, tingin ko inlove na inlove siya sa 'yo. The way he round himself to you, I can say that it's true, Xam. Believe me. He's a good person and the two of you are the realest one if this rumor relationship of yours will be true too." He adviced.

I just smiled at him. "Well, hindi malabo 'yan…"

Nagkwentuhan pa kami ni Kuya Jonas ng ilan pang minuto ng dumating ang kasama ni Kuya Jonas na si Kuya Lindro. He hurriedly go to him to start the recording session. Inayos muna ang mga chords sa loob upang maayos ang maging tunog ng dating sa kanila, I just sat there waiting for Paulo to come in.

Bigla na lamang nag-vibrate ang phone ko. I saw two messages, sabay na dumating, same time. It's Paulo's manager and Van. Binuksan ko muna ang mensahe ng manager ni Paulo.

"Xam, hindi makakapunta si Paulo. May biglaan siyang out of the country tour. Pasabi nalang kay Jonas. Salamat."

So, I'm all alone here doing this recording? Oh, damn. I stood up and go inside to tell Kuya Jonas that Paulo can't come here today. He's with his phone, talking to someone.

"Yes. Ofcourse, come here. Mas maganda kung makakapunta ang lead vocalist n'yo, right? Okay, deal. Just this one. Yes. I understand." Ibinaba na niya ang cellphone at isinilid na sa pocket niya. Lumapit ako kay Kuya Jonas.

"Kuya Jonas…" Tawag ko sa kanya. Nilingon niya ako at binati.

"What is it?"

"Nakatanggap ako ng mensahe sa manager ni Paulo, he's not available today. So, maybe, we could reschedule the recording?" All smiles. I am hoping that he will say 'yes' to me. But it turn out what I expected.

"Yeah. His manager called me a while ago before I call someone who will replace Paulo, right." I don't know how to react right now, I kind of embarass but this is not even big deal. I sighed. "Why? Are you not comfortable? Or… May magagalit? Don't worry, Xam. I already told to his manager that I will replace Paulo to this, I don't have plenty of time to reschedule this. Sorry, sana maintindihan mo…" He smiled at me warmly. I understand. I just hoping that he will say yes to my request, but it seems so impossible, so i should let it be.

Nginitian ko siya ng maganda. "I understand. I just shocked that he's being replaced to this, but really… It's okay and I understand." Komento ko. In-excuse nito ang sarili dahil aayusin pa nila ang mga cords, dahil banda daw ang kasama ko sa pagkanta. So, parang katulad lang ng collaboration nina Moira Dela Torre at December Avenue. Sana ay maganda ang maging kalabasan nito.
