Imagine #11- Just Best Friends?

Matt's P.O.V.

We had grown up together.  About 15 years as best friends since our parents were so close. We would have been forced to hang out with each other anyway, so it would not change a thing. I watched Sara go from a small, cute,little girl to a very sexy young-adult. We were in the last days of our freshman year and both our birthdays were coming up once school was out.

We would always go to the movies on the last day to watch a new movie coming out and then go  to the Candy Store and get 10 pounds of a mix of candy. We mainly got three types of candy since we had our top 3 in common. We would eat that candy at her house while we watched our favorite childhood movie The Lion King. 

I had liked her ever since I helped her clean up her knee after falling off her bike. 

I had been there to help her learn how to ride a bike, how to roller skate, climb the monkey bars, flirt with boys (really wish I didn't do that), and help her make our favorite food Tacos!

Recently, I had been thinking about Sara a lot more than usual. She was in my dreams and always in the back of my mind. I didn't want to ruin a relationship as special as ours. 

Sara could do much better than me anyway. I'm just Matt Espinosa, her best friend and I probably won't ever be close to being her boyfriend. 

I snapped out of my thoughts to see a figure standing in front of me. "Matt! School is out! Ready to go live up the summer together man?" Sarah asked me while jumping up and down. 

I packed my bag and she pulled me out of the old wooden seat. We ran down the hall and walked over to his car. I jumped into the driver's seat and Sara could not sit still. "Sara, why are you so excited?" I asked her while partially laughing. 

"Matt, I look forward to this day of the year so much! I love doing our rituals and I would not trade these traditions for the world. I'm so glad we are best friends!" Sara was practically screaming in joy and I  just widened my eyes at her. 

Best friends, all we would ever be because Matt Espinosa is not and will not be good enough for someone as perfect as Sara.

I started the car and pulled out of the driveway. The drive to the movie was about 20 minutes so we listened to the radio and jammed out together. We both put on our sunglasses and I found myself staring at her a lot. At one point she caught me and turned her head towards me. 

She looked into my eyes before questioning "Why do you keep looking at me Matt? Do I have something on my face? Dude tell me! Do I?" 

"Nothing is wrong Sara, I just think you look especially pretty today." I said before focusing back onto the road. 

Out of the corner of my eye I could see her blushing and I smiled. 

"Thank you Matt, you look as attractive as always. No wonder the girls keep trying to crawl all over you." She jokingly said to me before looking back down. 

I knew some girls might have liked me and been jealous of Sara for the relationship we had but they did not matter to me. I had always wanted to be with Sara and none of the others would ever matter because they don't know me like Sara does. They don't see how beautiful I find her and how much I love her actual personality. She only acts like her full self around me, her family, and like two other friends. I just wish she could see how amazing the natural her is. I love it more than anything else.
