32: Logicality

"So I was driving past a pet store and couldn't help but wonder how cute an animal would be in our home"

One day after a long and stressful day at work, there is nothing that Patton likes doing more then coming home to his husband, Logan, in their house. The two had been dating since senior year in high school and now 10 years down the line the two men lived together in a house that was homely and cosy enough for Patton but modern enough for Logan.

Patton came home from his day at the local veterinary practise to see Logan sat on the couch typing away on his computer. Logan worked at home most of the time for one of the biggest tech companies in the area. Patton was nervous however today because he had to ask Logan a question.

"Hey Lo, I'm home, did you have a good day?"

"Hey, yes my day was the same as normal but I did miss you. How was your day."

"Good but I have something to tell you."

"Go on,"

"So I was driving past a pet store, and couldn't help but wonder how cute an animal would be in our home" 

"You bought one didn't you."

"Not exactly, awhile ago a litter of puppies were brought in as they were abandoned at the side of the street and I was in charge of bringing them back to health so they could go up for adoption. They went up recently and almost all of them were adopted, except on and my boss said that we didn't have a lot of room to house him so I adopted him. I couldn't just leave him Lo, he deserves a good home and he will be so loved here and you wouldn't be so lonely while I worked. He's also really cute, he's a little chocolate brown Labrador." Patton explained hoping Logan would say yes

"Patton-..." Logan started before being cut off by Patton.

"Can you at least meet them, please"

Logan sighed in defeat before nodding at his husband. Patton ran out of the room with a little squeal of excitement as he went to collect the puppy that had captured his heart. Patton soon returned with a puppy cradled in his arms. 

As soon as the puppy was on the floor, he started running around the room and Patton's feet as he took in his new surroundings, that was until he noticed Logan sitting on the couch looking at the puppy with amusement and fondness. The puppy immediately ran towards Logan and started pawing at his leg, wanting to be cuddled by the other male.

Patton soon made his way over to the two and picked up the puppy, only to sit down and let him clamber all over Logan and himself. The puppy climbed onto Logan's lap and started licking and nudging at his hand looking for attention. 

Soon giving in to the puppy's unrelenting demands, Logan stroked the small dog. Content with the attention the small pup laid down between the two males. Logan and Patton both smiled down at the creature before looking up at each other.

Logan could tell that Patton wanted to keep the pup and had fallen in love with him in the short amount of time they had been in each other company. Logan also had to admit to himself that having the puppy around would be nice, and had fallen in love with the pup also. 

Smiling at his husband, Logan nodded before saying "We can keep him." Patton's smile grew impossibly bigger as he leaned and cuddled against Logan, careful not to disturb the resting pup that had made himself comfortable in between them.
