58: Sheith

"Promise you will come back. I need you to promise me"

Keith had loved Shiro for years now and as they got closer, his love for the male only grew. However Keith was always too scared to actually tell him how he felt, knowing that Shiro only really loved like a brother. Yet once Keith heard that Shiro was going on a mission, he knew he had to tell him before he left or he may never get the chance until years later.

As Shiro was finishing his preparations for the mission, Keith entered the hanger looking for him. Keith had a bad feeling about this mission since he learned about and no matter how many times he said that he didn't want Shiro leaving on this mission, he didn't budge. Keith finally gave and accepted that Shiro was going no matter what anyone said.

When Shiro noticed Keith standing by the entrance he motioned for him to come over. Keith then started helping Shiro make sure that he had all the supplies as they made small talk and talked about all the things Shiro might see and all the things that Keith would be doing here at the Garrison.

As the two continued to talk, time flew past them and before long it was time for Shiro to board and set of to Kerberos. The two gave each other a hug and said their goodbyes. But as Keith pulled away he said "Promise you will come back. I need you to promise me" tears were starting to brim in his eyes as the bad feeling grew in his stomach and heart.

At the sight of Keith almost crying, which was something he never did in front people, Shiro pulled him for another hug as he promise that he would return and that it would seem as if he had never left. While they were hugging, Keith buried his head into Shiro's chest before saying "I love you." It was muffled enough that he thought Shiro couldn't hear but if he did he couldn't hear clearly.

Once again they pulled away from the hug and said their goodbyes. Shiro walked towards the shuttle that will take him to the ship while Keith walked back outside but just as Shiro was about to enter the shuttle he turned around and called Keith's name.

Keith turned around to look at him and same Shiro sporting a smirk as he said "I love you too." before entering the shuttle, leaving Keith standing there, face flushed red, his heart pounding in his chest while his mind was a jumble of 'shit he heard me' and 'oh my god he loves me back.'
