49: Klance

"You're scaring me"

The battle with Zarkon had caused a problem for everyone but the disappearance of Shiro had shaken the paladins worse. No one was the same afterwards, even after only being with and knowing each other for a short while, they considered each other as friends if not family but now that Shiro was missing, it was as if someone had stolen a piece of them and just left a gaping hole behind.

Since the battle, Lance had developed a form of insomnia, that only got worse as he felt more helpless to help those around him and as he missed home. He would find it hard to go to sleep or in worse cases he wouldn't be able to sleep at all.

Lance often thought that he could hear someone sobbing some where in the castle, as he sat waiting for sleep to overcome his senses but past it off as his sleep deprived mind messing with him.

But one night when Lance was walking around the castle, he once again heard he sound of sobbing coming from a room to his left. Now someone crying wasn't uncommon on the castle, I mean they were only teenagers that got thrown into an intergalactic war that had been going on for the last 10000 years, millions of miles away from their loved one, from home. Things for the Paladins were going to be over whelming of them and now with Shiro gone, they felt more instability with in the group and had no idea what to do next.

Walking towards the sound, Lance went to find out who the person sobbing was and offer as much comfort as possible. But once he entered the room, Lance was shocked at the scene in front of him.

There sat on the floor of an empty room was Keith. A blanket was draped over his shoulders as he sat in front of a large window. The room was illuminated in a silvery glow from the stars that shined on the other side of the glass. Keith looked even more stunning then normal as the starlight was concentrated where he sat.

Lance couldn't take in the beautiful sight in front of him for long as he saw the trails of tears glisten on Keith's red cheeks as the refused to stop. Keith let out another heart broken cry as if trying to scream away the pain that resided in his heart. Never in his life had Lance heard such a pained cry that shattered his heart and make him want to comfort the person more then the one that Keith had just let escape.

Lance walked over silently as to not startle Keith before settling down next to him. Keith just looked at Lance before leaning his head onto Lance's shoulder to sob some more. Lance shifted slightly so he could hold Keith closer as he sobbed away the pain that would only come back later. Lance ran his hand through Keith's hair while the other one rubbed soothing circles on his back.

"Keith, You're scaring me. Please, talk to me, what's wrong." Lance whispered. Apart of him knew what was wrong but asked anyway because some times it's better then not talking at all.

Still sobbing Keith said "Everyone - I l..love keeps - leaving m..me - and... and I, I can't - hep b..but feel- as if - I..it's my fault. I - I'm just - a... a burden to e- everyone around me, and I - I - I can't do it a-anymore."

Lance just held the sobbing male closer to him as his broke even more knowing that Keith thought that he was a burden. Lance continued to hold Keith close until he calmed down a little. He was no longer crying but tears were still streaming down his face.

Lance lifted his face up a little and wiped away the tears before saying "You're wrong Keith. You are not a burden Keith, you are so important to so many people and you are so special and amazing. Anyone that has met you, the real you are so lucky because you are amazing Keith. Also not everyone that loves you, abandons you. I can name two people that love you."

"Who?" Keith whispered timidly

"Well Shiro would never leave you. I bet he is out there right now looking for you as much as you are looking for him. I may not of known him for long but I know that he loves you Keith and he would never purposely leave you. Also I love you Keith and I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere."

"Wait, you love me?"

"Yeah, I have for years. I just used the whole rivalry thing to hide my feelings, seeing as you're you and you wouldn't go for someone like me."

"You're wrong Lance, cause I love you too." Keith said smiling at Lance, who returned the smile with one that showed equally how mush love he had for the boy. The two continued to Talk about everything and nothings, as they cuddled under the blanket and watched the stars pass by until they fell asleep in each others arms. That night they both got the best sleep they've had in a while.
