Chapter 14 - Prom Night

Dumating ang araw ng Prom nila maagang nagising si Jaybee.  Kinatok ang pinto ng kwarto ng Papa niya.

Jaybee:  Papa, let's go to the gym na.

Baste:  Jaybee it's only 8 in the morning.

Jaybee:  Papa,sige na, let's run first then go to the gym.

Baste:  You go ahead son.

Jaybee:  Papa, it's Prom day naman.  Support my cause please.

Janine:  Go up na Babe.  Kawawa naman si Jaybee kailangan ng moral support mo.

Baste:  Fine...

Jaybee:  Mama, you too. You told me to wake you up early para you can prepare breakfast and we can go to the couturier and the Flower shop early.

Nagkatinginan ang magasawa.    Wala ng nagawa kung hindi bumangon.

Janine:  We are awake darling sige na go get ready for the gym.

Nasa garden na si Jaybee at nagstretching ng bumaba ang mga magulang.

Baste:  Anong oras ba ang Prom?  

Jaybee: The registration is at 3pm tapos we go straight to the picture taking and the entrance is at 6pm. 

Baste:  Anak naman eh hapon pa pala.

Jaybee:  Papa we need to do a lot of things.  After run and workout, I need a haircut then nail cleaning.  Then I need to go to the  jewelry shop tsaka sa flower shop.  Papa, you have to accompany me.  I can't drive alone magagalit si Mandie if she finds out eh.

Baste:  You can't drive alone?  Eh papano kapag sinundo mo si Mandie ako pa rin ang driver mo?

Jaybee:  No Papa, Lolo Art is sending the limo with his driver.

Napangiti si Janine. 

Janine:  Aba at talagang hiniram mo pa ang Limo ng Lolo mo. Sabagay, nakatiwangwang lang naman yon don. At least today it is put to good use.

Jaybee:  Pinadala pa nga ni Lolo sa Carwash  eh. Sabi pa ni Lolo after the Prom I can bring Mandie somewhere nice for a great ending.

Baste: Si daddy talaga. Teka haircut, nail cleaning I understand, para gwapo, elegante, kagalanggalang at picture perfect ang binata ko pero bakit may jewelry shop at flower shop pa?

Jaybee:  Papa, I need to buy her a jewelry like a bracelet to commemorate today, I mean a symbol that today is something special. I'm going to buy her a silver bracelet.  Tapos flower shop for the corsage.

Baste:  Ang gastos naman, ikaw bang bata ka may pera ka ha? 

Jaybee:  I have saved enough for today Papa. Don't worry everything is on me. 

Baste:  Sigurado ka lang dyan? 

Jaybee:  Yes Papa, I already have Lolo Art to back my finances if ever.

Baste:  Yang Tatay mo talaga Babe... sinasabi ko na nga ba pakana na naman niya yang may pajewelry pa.

Jaybee:  Lolo said if the girl is really special she's worth all the effort and money, go big!

Baste:  Go Big ka dyan gusto mo ng big bukol kapag kinutusan kita dyan?  Nung panahon namin pati pomada galing sa eskwelahan eh, libre.

Janine:  Nakaattend ka pala ng Prom?

Baste:  Babe ha, isa ka pa.

Janine:  Joke long Babe, kasi naman pabayaan mo na nga yang binata mo sa gusto niyang gawin at least siya hindi nagmana sa yo na Torpe.
