Chapter two
“Any more question love?” The maid name Victoria asked me, she showed me around the whole manor and two kitchens, living room, family room then there's an all white room for some reason but it looks like it’s for family portraits on how it’s set up. Oh the uniforms are a bit oldish in my opinion, as I got my measurements taken since I’m not a skinny as the rest of them I met the head maid and she is very sweet and old. Probably in her fifties very positive too but seeing how my uniform would be in the works she had given me a white button up shirt and a long skirt that seem to fit me a bit tight but I can squat without ripping them. I am currently in my bedroom which is kinda rooming it has a decent sized bed that's have off white covers and a grey pillow the dressers were brown keeping the aesthetic in the room warm I guess. Victoria was brushing my hair back fitting it in a tight ponytail.
“No not really but when I do, I'll make sure to ask.” I smiled at her and she returned one back.
“Well it's three o'clock the little one should be on his way home come on.” She walked towards the door and I got up from the bed following her. I am a little nervous since I haven’t really look after a child in a few years. I hope the boy won’t be so problematic then again I don’t really see kids being problematic around the age five through eight because usually they are full of imagination and curiosity. Victoria and I stood at the front door waiting for the little boy arrival the door open revealing the kid who facial expression turn from a smile into a blank dead stare. I blink a gave him a little wave, the boy resembled his father a split image well expect for the beard he have a baby face the only thing different was that his eyes is baby blue. The boy was wearing some type of uniform that looks like he goes to a private school he had a blue undershirt and a white vest with some type of logo. His pants was tan and his shoes black, a thud was heard and looking for the cause he dropped his book bag.
“Makar welcome home this is your new nanny Marya, she'll be looking and taking care of you.” Victoria said putting her hand on my shoulder, the little boy stares at me and squint his eyes.
“I’m hungry make me food.” Makar drag his book bag with him going towards the dining room a sigh was made and I look over at Victoria who patted my shoulder.
“Good luck love.” She said before walking off, I blink a couple of times before walking in the dining room where I see the little boy digging in his book bag taking out a few books and paper. I walk over pulling a chair out sitting down catching his attention.
“I’m Marya it’s nice to meet you.” I extend my hand and in return he look at me like I was crazy. I’m just trying to be nice am I not supposed to talk or something.
“I am hungry go make me food now.” He smacked my hand away and I was taken back a little, getting up and decided to not get fired on my first day I left the table going into the kitchen looking through the cabinets trying to see what I can make. I made my way to the pantry seeing different types of bread I took a baguette out and set it on the counter I look through the drawers looking for the knives before look up at the counter by the sink. Oh well I feel stupid, I grab a knife from the knife block going back to the center counter cutting the bread in half. I started to cut the inside out so I can fill it up broccoli meat and cheese. I went and grabbed a pot filling it up with water before setting it on the stove, I looking in the freezer grabbing broccoli opening the back before putting them in the water. I put the top on it getting the shredded cheddar cheese ready while grabbing a different pot ready to melt the cheese. It was getting a bit hot so I went to go open a window but stop almost tripping over something.
Looking down to see a small marble on the floor huh that wasn't there before. I bend down to pick it up tilting my head I stood back up putting the marble down in the little basket that was empty. I heard a snicker and look behind me scanning the area, nothing no one. Just the center counter and the rest of the kitchen. Raising an eyebrow I walk back to the dining room.
"Makar?" I peek my head out to see an empty table with paper and books scatter. Hmm going back to work I walked back to the stove but sorta slip I quickly catch myself grabbing on to the counter. I carefully kept my balance looking down seeing more marbles on the floor. Picking the few up and adding them to the basket to join the single one. Keeping my head down to make sure there weren't anymore on the floor I empty the cheese in the pot and started to stir. Bump, quickly turning around I spotted a little fluff of hair running in the dining room. Putting the wooden spoon down I follow catching Makar. "Young man." I started my sentences off grabbing the kid attention. He turned and looked at me glaring.
"Old lady." He mocks me folding his little arms tilting his head. A clever comeback for his age I guess.
"Please do not lay your marbles on the floor someone could get hurt." I said without trying to sound serious or stern, he's a kid after all he probably just wanna play.
"You can't tell me what to do, you're not my mother." He stated which is true obviously I ain't the boys mother but he could at least be nice to others.
"Well maybe I should tell her how you're behaving?" I fold my arms mocking him and that earn me a little mumble under his breath. "Excuse me, what was that?" I ask getting closer.
"She dead dumb ass." The next thing happen so fast. This little boy kick my shin and ran off the pain sting a little as I bit my tongue trying to ignore it turning around to heading back to check on the broccoli and cheese. After a few minutes I started to hear little footsteps running around and grew louder. Looking back I spotted the same hot headed little boy, I grab the bread off the counter turning back around taking the spoon in the other hand stuffing some of the broccoli in the bread.
Suddenly a loud ring burst through and I quickly jumped knocking the pot over as some of the hot water poured on my hand. I hiss jerking my hand back looking behind me. An air horn...He's holding an air horn and laughing. What the?
"Makar!" My voice boom echoing and his face drop from a smile to a slight worried expression. "Can you..Can you please get a maid for me please?" I soften my voice a little, it's not in my place to yell at another person's child. Makar stare at me for a moment before running off, I look around trying to clean up the mess. Okay Marya this is just a little bump everyone has those days, this is okay. I ran cold water slowly putting my right hand underneath but slightly jerk it away.
"Marya?" I heard a familiar voice with a worried tone hooked to it. I look over and see Victoria with an aid kit quickly walking over gently grabbing my hand. "Oh my what happened?" she asked I sigh and give her a small smile.
"I was clumsy and careless that's all." I said and she shook her head and started to lecture me about being careful while having me sit down so she can tend to my hand which wasn't that serious. I felt Makar gaze and looked at him seeing the boy expression held a worry and guilt look there. After Victoria was done talking she told me to stay in the dining room while she cleans up and make something to eat. I sat across from Makar looking at the paintings that hang on the wall while he was doing school work. A tap came from the table and I look at him meeting his gaze. Sliding a piece of paper over towards me with his pencil I pick the piece of paper up opening it.
Is your arm okay? Was written on the piece and a two little check boxes was made that says yes and no on the side. A pencil rolled in my view of site and I look at the boy again who nod at me. Well one it was my hand and wrist but I guess arm works. Picking the pencil up I check yes returning the pencil and paper back. He quickly snatch it looking at it releasing a sigh that he seems to be holding.
"Didn't mean it ...just wanted to have fun." He spoke and a small smile appeared on my face. He's seven I can't stay mad at a kid, I nod my head.
"You could have waited, I wouldn't mind taking you to the park or any activities you would like to do." I look around and then my hand still feeling a medium amount of pain.
"That's new, no one ever wants to do that." He said and I look up seeing the boy put his books and paper away. "Do you know how to play hockey!?" Makar said a little excited, no I do not know how but I already promised him I'll do any activities.
"No but I can learn." I said and with that he jumped up grabbing my other hand pulling me to get up. I did so as he attempts to drag me out the dining room and not putting up a fight I followed. He's not a bad kid just need a little guidance and attention.
