The Path of a Shinobi (Reader x various)

Ignoring the silence that ensued the area, I said, "That's totally off topic Sai. And we don't have time to waste remember."

"(Y/n) is right. M-Maybe we should go with a different plan now?" Suggested Hinata.

"We'll go with formation A," announced captain Yamato and we all nodded our heads in approval.

Naruto, Kiba, Akamaru, and I sprinted our way towards Tobi, forming our own jutsu. Kiba and Akamaru had used their fang over fang while Naruto and I both planned to use a Rasengan.

Naruto created his Rasengan first and charged head on towards Tobi while I stayed below ground. Captain Yamato used his wood style to shield me from Tobi's view and prevent him from spotting me. I made my way on the other side of Tobi and started creating my own Rasengan.

'I have to time this just right.'

Once I saw Naruto's Rasengan go right through Tobi, I leapt into action. I applied chakra to the soles of my feet and ran up the tree. Once I got to the branch he was standing on, I pushed off the trunk with my Rasengan in hand.

In that moment, Captain Yamato had used his wood style to bind Tobi just in time as I was inching closer to him. I slammed my Rasengan right through the wood and made contact with Tobi's back, but once I did, he vanished and I was left destroying the wood into pieces.

"Wow that was a close one!"

I turned around and saw Tobi standing above another tree branch wiping a nonexistent bead of sweat across his mask.

"You Leaf Ninja will have to try harder than that. Now for my secret technique." He clasped his hands into a hand sign and we all took a defensive stance.

"Ninja art: Frill Necked Lizard!"

We all awaited for something to appear but there was no sign of any movement from him or anything unordinary appearing. As seconds had gone by, Tobi sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. "Actually that's all there is to it."

"He's just messing with us," angrily muttered out Naruto, being fed up this guy and his tricks.

Naruto, Kiba, and I regrouped back with the others on the ground and I patted Shino's back pushing forwards a bit. "Well Shino, looks like you're up next."

Shino did his thing by using his insects to entrap Tobi, which was successful at first but in the end, he still managed to escape. He was no longer where he once stood and had to have appeared elsewhere without making a sound.

"I found him! Over there," pointed out Hinata and we all spun around to see Tobi standing on another branch.

Next to him, a closed up Venus fly trap made its appearance from the bark of the tree branch. It slowly opened up and inside was what appeared to be a man with short green hair and yellow eyes. The right side of his body was coated in black while the other half was white.

"Great, now we have a plant to deal with." I placed my hand on my temple, trying to think of a way to deal with these two. But I was pulled out of my thoughts once I heard the plant speak.

"Sasuke won," he loudly announced. "Itachi Uchiha is dead."

Everyone's eyes widened in surprise and we all fell silent once we heard the news. I stared at the ground, not being able to believe that he was dead already and that Sasuke had finally got what he wanted. I saw them both before all of this...but to think that it all went down while we were here trying to get past Tobi was just...

"Sasuke...really killed him?" Quietly mumbled Sakura in shock. She too didn't want to believe that Sasuke had gone as far to do this.

But the old Sasuke that we knew was starting to disappear and was being replaced by someone who was straying further away from us.

"Sasuke is down too. His life be hanging on a thread at the moment," he also said with a smile at the end.

"Hey, you spiky aloe vera bastard! Where the hell is Sasuke?!" Exclaimed Naruto as he pointed a finger at him.

"Aloe Vera?" Questioned the plant sending Naruto a small glare. Not wanting to partake in anything else with us, he sunk back into the tree branch and was gone, leaving Tobi standing there.

"I shall continue my fight with you another time. Farewell." Tobi finally dropped the childish act and spoke in his normal deep voice. But through that eye hole of his, I could see his Sharingan menacingly staring down at us. Using his hand, he placed it above his head before moving it straight down his body, but as he did, his body started to vanish until there was nothing left of him.

"We have to get there before they do!" Suddenly ordered Kakashi Sensei and we all scurried to follow him.

~Timeskip~

We arrived at the area and the whole ground was covered with a pile of rubble. The sky was clouded was dark grey clouds with rain pouring down on us, soaking our entire body.

We searched the area, but neither of the Uchiha brothers were here. The only thing left here was a broken wall with the Uchiha crest on it and dry blood that was being washed off by the rain.

I placed my hand against the Uchiha crest and silently stared at it as I let my hair continue to stick into my face.

'You really did let your life end at the hands of Sasuke...' I clenched my hand into a fist and removed my fist from the wall but then slammed it against the wall.

I...I don't know what to feel but a part of me felt a lingering sadness, knowing that Itachi was dead. Despite everything that happened, I still somewhat cared for him.

I placed my forehead against the wall and felt the water run down my face. With the way the rain is running down my face, it looks like I'm crying. But I wasn't crying. Despite all this rain, I knew that I ended up shedding a tear. But that tear was mixed in with the water running down my cheek.

On the other side of the wall, Naruto was in the same situation as I was, but his mind wasn't on Itachi. It was on Sasuke.

A tear was shed by each one of us that day, but for two different people and for two different reasons.

One for to the death of someone. And the other, for a friend who got away.
