"Sasuke, are you sure he'll be here? We've been looking for so long now," I asked right behind him as I pushed away a branch that was in my way.
"He has to! This is the last place!" He said in an over-excitedly tone of voice as he too pushed away a small branch.
We made it out to a clearing with the sun slowly descending and standing by the edge of the cliff which had a view of a waterfall were Itachi and Shisui who were conversing until Sasuke interrupted.
"Big brother! Hey!"
Sasuke went running towards Itachi ignoring Shisui's presence while I walked on over to them.
"There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you!" Sasuke's onyx eyes were filled excitement, but that excitement died down once his eyes drifted over to Shisui.
"Oh um..." muttered Sasuke not exactly sure what to say, but Shisui broke that awkwardness by greeting him. Sasuke gave him a smile and was about to say something until I interrupted him.
"Shisui!" I exclaimed as I walked right up to him and wrapped my arms around his waist.
Since Sasuke was too busy to acknowledge Shisui, I'll take Shisui for myself.
"I feel the love now," jokingly said Shisui teary eyed as he lifted me up and planted a kiss on my cheek.
I nuzzled myself up against the crook of his neck and felt myself begin to smile, but I turned my face away from everyone so no one could see it. My body began to relax as I felt his hand lightly stroke my head while I listened to the faint sound of his heart beating.
"What are you two doing out here?" Suddenly asked Itachi and I lifted my head to look over at him.
"Ask him," I pointed my thumb at Sasuke, but Sasuke didn't answer the question.
"Hey, what were you two talking about? I want to know!" Shouted Sasuke as he looked between the two older Uchiha.
Itachi hesitantly looked at Sasuke before softly saying, "You're still too young to know."
"Awww, what's that about? I'm not part of the group now?" Pouted Sasuke.
"No because you'll run your mouth," I stuck my tongue out at Sasuke and he huffed at me with his pout still evident.
"That's not true," defended Itachi before he poked Sasuke's forehead. "Forgive me Sasuke, maybe next time."
"You always say that..." muttered Sasuke as he placed his hands on his forehead.
"Good grief," sighed Shisui as he set me down on the ground and with his hand, motioned for Sasuke to come closer.
"Alright then, I'll tell you," said Shisui as he winked at Sasuke.
"Really? You're the best Shisui!"
"Hmph. Now you think he's the best," I scoffed while I received a slight glare from Sasuke.
Shisui had brought us in close and whispered although still loud enough for Itachi to hear.
"You see...we were just talking about which one of us is stronger. Me or Itachi. I mean, I know I'm a lot stronger than he is, but he won't accept the truth," sighed Shisui before continuing on. "Well you two know the truth don't you? That I'm a lot stronger than he-"
"No you're not!" Blurted out Sasuke.
"Oh?" Shisui's lips formed an o shape as he curiously looked at Sasuke.
"It's true you're strong but my big brother is still stronger than you!"
Oh really? But I'm older than he is so I think it's only natural to assume I'm-"
"Age has nothing to do with being a shinobi!" Retaliated Sasuke.
"But you know, don't forget, I have the Sharingan."
"My brother has the Sharingan too! Even (Y/n) has it! So...he won't lose to you! Right, big brother?" Sasuke whirled his head over to Itachi and awaited his answer which left Itachi surprised.
"Shisui....you...." Itachi was at a loss for words while Shisui merely chuckled at the scene. Sasuke went right up to Itachi trying to get him to confirm that he was indeed stronger, but Itachi hesitated.
"Well (Y/n), what's your answer?" Asked Shisui and all three Uchiha had their eyes locked on me.
"Both?" I meekly said although it came out more like a question.
"You have to pick one of us. Come on, we won't get hurt," nudged Shisui.
"Why not both though?" I couldn't pick between them. They were both strong in their own ways.
Shisui sighed knowing that he wasn't going to get answer out of me and simply ruffled my hair.
"Hey!" I swatted his hand away, but as I looked up at him, I saw him longingly stare at the two brothers who were immersed with one another. A determined yet saddened look appeared in his eyes which he then shut for a moment until I pulled on his arm which brought him back to reality.
"Shisui...are you okay?" I whispered and he knelt down to my level and put on a dashing smile.
"Of course I am. I was simply thinking."
"Well that's surprising."
An irk mark appeared on his forehead before he lightly smacked the back of my head as a chuckle escaped my lips.
"I think we're gonna head out now. It's almost time for dinner and we don't want to be late. And I have to prepare for tomorrow too," spoke Itachi.
"Oh right, you have a mission tomorrow. I wish you the best of luck," said Shisui with a smile.
"Let's go, (Y/n)!" Exclaimed Sasuke as he grabbed ahold of my hand and tried dragging me, but I planted my feet on the ground which left the young Uchiha confused.
"Aren't you going to have dinner with us?"
"It's not the same. You wouldn't understand," I mumbled. Don't get me wrong, I loved them and all, but...having dinner with them sometimes reminded me of something I can't have anymore with my own parents.
The air grew silent as I removed the hold Sasuke had on me and I grabbed onto Shisui's hand which made Shisui break the silence.
"How about I take her home and eat dinner with her? You two can go on ahead. She'll be in my care for the night."
"Shisui, are you sure? I know you have things to deal with," spoke up Itachi, but Shisui dismissed it with a wave of his hand.
"I'm sure. I adore (Y/n). Plus this gives me more time to spend with the one who loves me," he teasingly said to me while I huffed and turned my slightly reddening face away from him.
"Then we'll be off now, " said Itachi as he turned away from us with Sasuke saying goodbye to us.
As the two brothers walked away, the words I said ran through their mind but...
Who knew how wrong I'd be
