6 years later

My fist collided with a dummy as I repeatedly threw punches at it before knocking it down with a swing of my leg. I lightly panted as I wiped the bead of sweat that ran down my forehead. I removed a strand of my (h/l) (h/c) hair that managed to get in my face during my training.

"(Y/n)!"

I turned my head to the right once I heard my name being called by my mother. I ran off in the direction she was calling me from and saw her waiting on a dirt path.

"Yes?" I quickly said as I stopped in front of her and regained my breath.

"We're leaving to go see them now."

"Okay!" I excitedly exclaimed as I walked alongside her down the dirt path that would eventually lead us out of our small village.

Members of our clan were out and about doing their own daily things with a few children running around in circles while others who were around my age were in their training gear.

"G-good morning, (M/n)," stuttered a middle aged woman as she saw my mother and I pass by. I stared at the brunette and as she met my (e/c) eyes, she quickly averted her gaze elsewhere. I turned my head away from her while my mother greeted her, but we continued on.

Men, women, and children walked past me without giving me a glance until we left. It hurt, but I grew accustomed to it.

We were on the road for thirty minutes until I recognized the familiar main gates of Konoha. There were two Leaf shinobi guarding the main gate whom we greeted since they knew us by now.

Ever since I could remember in my six years of life, we always came here to visit the Uchihas since our families had a strong bond. As a result of that, I became close with the Uchihas since they were the only ones I ever interacted with.

We headed down the same old road that would eventually lead us to our destination. But there was something different about today.

I saw a young blonde haired boy who appeared to be my age who had blotches of paint on his cheeks. He was wearing a sandy colored shirt with a red spiral that was smeared in the same color paint. He had a green long sleeve under his sandy short sleeved shirt with a pair of brown knee length shorts.

I stopped in the middle of the road and stared at the blonde haired boy who was sadly staring at a mother and her child interacting with a smile on their faces.

The young boy felt a pair of eyes on him and gazed in the direction I was at and his cerulean blue eyes met my (e/c) eyes. My eyes trailed over the three whisker marks that were on his cheeks before meeting his eyes again.

I mustered up a gentle smile and directed it at him. He became startled for a second before looking left and right to make sure there was no one around him who I could've smiled at and then pointed at himself.

I nodded my head at him and mouthed 'hi' and he returned the smile with excitement filling his eyes and gleefully waved at me.

There was finally someone who didn't ignore me

Little did I know that it was same for him

"(Y/n)."

My mother called my name and I noticed the distance between us was quite far. I looked at the boy once more and awkwardly waved goodbye before I ran off to catch up to her.

But I didn't know that my little interaction with him had stirred some hope in the young boy. That maybe there were good people out there. Not everyone was the same.

After about another ten minutes, we arrived at the entrance of the Uchiha Compound. We stepped in through the entrance and my mother guided me towards their home.

We arrived at their place and she knocked on the door and a few seconds later, Mikoto slid it open with a warm smile on her face at the sight of the two of us.

"It's good to see you again! Come in," she stepped aside and allowed us to come inside. My mother slipped off her sandals while I kept mine on since I tend to go out rather than stay inside. We walked up the two steps That was right at the entrance to their home and I turned to Mikoto and asked, "Where's Itachi and Sasuke?"

"They're outside right now," she lifted her finger and pointed at where another shōji door was at. I thanked her and ran out the door she pointed and as I turned the corner, I bumped into someone.

I stumbled back and once my eyes traveled to the person's face, I was greeted by Itachi who then asked in a worried tone, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah." I rubbed my forehead and noticed the kunais that were in his hand and seeing where my eyes were fixated, he explained, "I was going to teach Sasuke how to throw kuanis."

"Can I join?"

"Sure." He extended his free hand out to me and I soon grew embarrassed as I stared at it and I shyly grabbed his hand as he led me to where they were going to practice. Even though I held his hands many times before, I never got use to it and would always become flustered.

Sasuke came into view and his eyes were filled with excitement at the sight of me and he waved at me. "Hey (Y/n)!"

"Sasuke!"

He ran towards me and tackled me with a hug and excitedly asked, "Big brother, is she joining us today?"

"She is."

Sasuke looked at me and grabbed my other hand and pulled me over to where the target was. Itachi came over and handed the two of us three kunai. Sasuke was the first to go up and each one of his kunai hit the outside. He pouted before stepping aside and I went up.

The first one that I threw almost hit the center while my next two were a little off, but were close enough.

"You did better than me," pouted Sasuke once again as he compared ours.

"It takes practice. Something I've had longer than you."

Sasuke scowled at me and although we were the same age, my training started sooner than his. There were different expectations for the two of us.

"Now, now, this isn't a competition," intervened Itachi.

I placed my attention back to him and asked with hopeful eyes, "Will you show us your skills?" Itachi was a prodigy and to witness his skills amazed me.

He nodded his head and prepared his kunai and precisely aimed each one and hit the center.

"Woah."

"You really are amazing!" Exclaimed Sasuke in awe. "How do you do it?"

"You just need practice. Soon you'll be able to do it too. You're a lot like me after all."

Sasuke cheekily smiled and I rushed forth towards Itachi. "Can you teach me how to perfect it?"

"Of course, but why don't we go to the training grounds right now? I have someone waiting for us there."

I nodded my head and took his hand in mine as we headed over to the training grounds to meet this said person.
