"I must really be dead if I'm standing right before someone who's been dead for centuries," I said to Hagoromo who was floating midair with his legs criss crossed together.
"What makes thee think that thou art dead?" He spoke and I quizzically stared at him due to his choice of wording, but shook it off for now.
"Because I saw you with Akako longgg ago! I was expecting to see my parents, Shisui, Jiraiya Sensei and Itachi, but you're here instead! No offense." I exasperatedly sighed as I placed my hands on my head trying to make sense of what was happening.
"I had foreseen that thou would end up in such a state as that," he said.
"You mean you knew I would end up here?" I questioned and he nodded his head.
"Great.... now another question, where exactly are we?"
"Thou has not died yet. This place is the inner mind."
"Well at least I'm not dead yet. But is this how you normally speak? Because this isn't ancient times anymore."
He looked somewhat offended by my words and his stoic face stared right at me before he cleared his throat, "How's this then?" He asked as his style drastically changed and was now speaking like a normal person.
"Better!" I gave him a quick thumbs up before placing it back down. "But anyways, if I'm not dead, then how am I here? How do I get out of here?"
"One question at a time. Rushing things won't make a difference. First, you must listen to what I'm about to tell you and then I'll answer your questions." He used his ringed staff to tap the water and a ripple of waves washed over the surface and there appeared a beautiful pale skinned woman with grayish white hair and her eyes were those of the Hyūga clan.
"She's...?"
"My mother, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki...." and so he told the tale of his mother and how he and his brother, Hamura, sealed her away. But went on to telling me about his sons, Indra and Ashura whom he showed me by using his ring staffed to tap the water once more and there appeared the two sons.
I glanced between the two and couldn't help but admire how good looking they were.
'Man, the genes he passed on did his sons well.'
But as I stared at the two, my heart ached for some reason. I placed a hand over my heart and clutched my shirt as an unfamiliar feeling washed over me.
"Nostalgia," he uttered.
"Huh?"
"This may seem absurd to you, but they are the reincarnation of your two friends." Beside the image of Indra appeared Sasuke and beside the image of Ashura appeared Naruto.
"My two sons have reincarnated as them. You feel nostalgic because your reincarnation longs for them."
"My... reincarnation?!" I exclaimed in utter confusion.
"Yes. There is a (L/n) who has reincarnated as you. The one who has reincarnated as you happens to have the same name as you."
"What...?" I muttered.
"Your reincarnation, (Y/n), was close to my sons and she cared for them both until things went awry," his expression turned grim and the images in the surface of the water changed.
There shown was an image of three people with Ashura being on the right, a (h/c) haired girl in the middle and Indra on the left. The three of them wore a large smile on their faces and appeared as if nothing could ever separate the trio but soon appearing above them, a dark mist loomed over them.
"This is their story..."
