Song of the Chapter: Do I Wanna Know by Arctic Monkeys

Anna's POV

"You."

"Ah um- err." I stutter. "Hi? Me? What? How? Why?"
"Yeah, I like you Anna. You're gorgeous and I really like you. It's ok if you don't like me back."
"No James I-I do."
"Wait. Really?"
"Yeah." I say quietly.
"Oh ok. Yay."
I smile, "so, uh, what now?"
"I don't actually know, I was kind of expecting you to reject me."
"Oh James."
"I guess, Anna Urie, would you like to go out with me?"

10 words I thought I would never hear.
"Yes." I give him a hug and he hugs me back.
"Aren't you tired?"
"Not really, I kinda survive off little sleep and coffee."
"That's not healthy."
"Yeah I know, my dad tells me that all the time." I lean up against him and put my head on his shoulder and he wraps his arm around me.
"I've been wanting to do that for ages." I hear him whisper and I smile.

We watch the sunrise, talking about life and stuff. We soon hear the back door slide open and we both turn our heads to see mum.
"Good morning."
"Morning mum."
"Morning Sarah."
"What's happening out here?"
We both look at each other and nod a little.
"Uh talking?"
"About?"
"Uh were uh kinda together?" I stutter, scared of being yelled at.
"Aww that's adorable, I knew it."
"You're not mad?"
"Of course not. Why would I be?"
I shrug.
"I'm happy for you."
"Thanks mum."
"Also breakfast is going to be ready soon."
"Ok. Thank you."

She goes back inside.
"Are you alright with us?"
"Yes of course, I love this."
"What about your family?"
"Uh, dad will probably be fine with us, Tyler and Pete might have words with you and the others, I don't know."
"Ok." We stand up and just before we walk inside, he kisses my forehead and my stomach does that weird flip and I smile like a kid in a candy story.

"I knew it!" We hear dad scream excitedly as we walk inside to the kitchen.
"Shh Bren, the others are still asleep."
"No we aren't." Layla says coming downstairs with the others.
"Why are you shouting?" Peter says.
"Ask Anna." Dad grins.
"You know?" I question and mum mouths sorry. I smile and grab James' hand. Abigail was the first to notice and squeals. James and I laugh at her reaction and Peter and Layla  take a few more seconds to realise what was happening. When they do notice, Peter nods at James and Layla smiles.

We sit down and eat the pancakes Mum made for us. Peter has to go home soon after to babysit his siblings. We decide to practise for our music task. We listen to Abigail play the intro and I give her a little applaud for finally getting it.

I sing along with everyone's playing, smiling. I still wasn't very confident singing by myself yet, but playing around friends was comforting.

When we finish, James smiles at me and gives a little nod of approval. I smile back at him.
"Ok you two, let's decide what we are doing." Layla laughs.
"Whatcha mean?" I asks.
"Well, do we like how it sounds or should we change it?"
"I'm not sure. Should be get my dad to listen to it? Seen as though it is his song."
"Uh yeah?"

"Dad!"
"Yeah?"
"Are you busy?"
"No what's up?" He says coming into the studio.
"Can you listen to our music piece and tell us on how to improve?"
"Sure." He pulls up a chair and James counts is in.

"Woah, you guys are pretty good." He says when we finish.
"Thanks." We say.
"Any tips?" I ask.
"Uh Abigail awesome guitar but just make the notes more distinctive, Layla turn your bass up and A, be more confident, you sound amazing but it would sound better if you weren't so scared."
"I know."
"Hey A, I have to go now." Layla says looking up from her phone.
"Yeah sure. Have a good weekend."
"You too, bye guys."
"Bye."
