Song of the Chapter: Not Warriors by Waterparks

Anna's POV

"Happy Valentine's Day!"
"Ugh don't remind me. My first Valentine's Day with a boyfriend and I can't even see him." I mumble and throw the covers over my head only to have them pulled off with my best friend staring at me.
"Exactly why I'm here. Now get up."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Anna Rose get up now."
"Why? What's the point? Let me sit here in my sadness."
"As your best friend, I won't allow it."
I groan and roll over. But Abi wasn't having any of it. I felt her arms wrap around my waist and she lifts me out of my bed.
"Hey what are you doing?"
"Getting you out of bed."
"Abs let me go. Put me down."
"Nope. Also you're really easy to carry." She says as she carries me out of my room.
"Yeah let's not remind me that I'm mentally messed up." I mumble quietly but she didn't hear me.

From James: happy Valentine's Day my gorgeous girl. I love you so much and I'm so sorry I can't be with you today xx
To James: happy Valentine's Day and it's ok, it's just one day. I love you and I'll see you soon
From James: counting the days <3

"Oh good Anna's awake." Dad smiles and I force a smile back.
"Good morning love."
"Morning Mum."
"Hungry?"
I go to say no but both dad and Abi were watching me.
"Fine." I grumble and take a bowl and pour myself a bowl of cereal.
"What's the plan today girls?" Mum asks me.
"To finish bowl of cereal and go back to bed." I mumble.
"No chance there. You're going to get dressed and we are going to have a good day with Layla and Peter." Abi says way too excitedly but I really wasn't in the mood. "Please Anna."
"Fine." I sigh.
"Yay."

After much more pestering, Abi and I get dropped off at Layla's house.
"Thank you Judy." I say politely, to Abi's mum.
"Anytime Anna."
I nod and follow Abi to Layla's front door.
"You got her here!"
"It took a lot to get her here, I had to carry her to the kitchen and then pester her-"
"Alright, alright I get it. I'm a handful." I interrupt.
"Glad you came." Peter smiles but I couldn't give one back.
"Come on, we've got enough popcorn and candy to last a few movies." Layla laughs and drags me over to the couch.

Half way through a movie, don't ask me what movie because I was not paying attention, I get up and walk out because I could feel myself breaking down inside.
"Anna? You alright?"
"Yeah I just need a moment."
Peter and Layla nod and go back to watching the movie but Abi gives me a look.
'I'm ok' I mouth to her and she nods and goes back to watching the movie.

I go out the back door and sit against the house, hugging my legs. I knew my friends had the best intentions but I really just wanted to be with James. I knew that I was just playing it off as another day, but I was hurt. But I knew it was basically impossible  to see James so I scroll through my contacts. I go to click on a few different contacts but I didn't want to interrupt them today.

To Awsten: hey are you doing anything?
From Awsten: me? Doing something on this very normal day?
To Awsten: so no?
From Awsten: no I'm not doing anything what's up?
To Awsten: I kinda need someone
From Awsten: sure, I'll come get you
To Awsten: I'm not at home
From Awsten: where are you?
To Awsten: 42 Horwood road
From Awsten: why are you there?
To Awsten: friends house
From Awsten: why do you need someone if you're at a friends?
To Awsten: please?
From Awsten: of course, I'm on my way. GPS say 18 minutes
To Awsten: thank you

I sigh and rest my head on my knees. I felt someone's hand get placed on my back and I look up to see Abi.
"You good?"
"I don't know."
"What's up?"
"I miss him."
"I know you do, only a few more days." I smile weakly.
"Come on want to come back inside?"
"I'm sorry but I'm going to leave you guys."
"It's ok want me to call my mom?"
"No it's ok, Awsten's coming."
"Alright, want me to stay?" I nod and she gives me a tight hug.
