Song of the Chapter: Migraine by Twenty One Pilots
Anna's POV
"They said I can go home but I don't really want to."
"You can come with us kid."
"Are you sure Brendon?"
"Positive."
Both James and I smile at dad.
"Thank you." James says.
"Of course kid, let's get you out of here."
I throw James a shirt and shorts that I grabbed from his house and he goes into the bathroom to get changed.
"Thank you dad, I didn't want him to got back there if his dad was going to be there."
"Of course A, I don't want him back there either."
James comes back and the doctor gives him some instructions for the next few days, don't do anything strenuous, rest etc, but he was allowed to go to school, and we were soon out of the hospital I had been in everyday for the last week and a half visiting him.
Dad pulls into a McDonald's car park and we walk in.
"What would you like for lunch?"
I shrug.
"I'm ok Brendon you don't need to buy me lunch."
"James it's no problem please let me buy you something that isn't hospital food."
James tells dad what he wants and sits down.
"A? What would you like?"
I shake my head.
"Please A. You need to eat something."
"Just an iced coffee please."
Dad sighs.
"Ok."
I go and sit next to James.
"Whatcha get?"
"Coffee."
"Is that all?"
"Mhm." I nod and pull out my phone, scrolling.
"Anna, what's up?"
"Nothing. It's all good I promise."
"Ok."
Dad comes with our food. I take my coffee and lean back in the chair. Dad places a small fries in front of me.
"Please?" He mouths.
James picks up one and waves it in my face in a joking manner.
"Stop."
"Pleaseeee?"
"No. James stop."
I could see dad and James make worried eye contact.
"I'm fine! Leave me alone." I say forcefully and stand up. I walk out of the McDonald's and towards our car. Because I couldn't get into the car due to it being locked, I sat on the grass in front of the car. I place my head in my hands and tear up. I didn't even mean to act like that, I just couldn't eat.
I had been sitting there for a few minutes when my phone rings.
"Oh hey Pete."
"You alright?"
"Yeah. You called me what's up?"
"Your father just told me what happened."
"Oh."
"You can't keep refusing to eat kid, you're going to end up in hospital again."
"I know I'm sorry."
"Where are you currently?"
"Uh outside McDonald's in front of dads car on the grass." I laugh.
"Alright. Do you think you could go back in there?"
"I can't. They'll make me eat."
"I know it's hard. You don't have to eat just this second but you do need to eat sometime today. Just go in there so Brendon knows you're ok."
I felt an arm wrap around me and someone sit next to me. It was James. I lean up against him trying not to cry while I was still on the phone with Pete.
"Anna? Are you there?"
"Y-yep. James is here with me."
"Ok. I'll talk to you later alright? Stay safe."
"Bye."
"Bye."
I hang up the phone and instantly cry into James' shoulder.
"Shh it's ok, you're ok. I'm here I'm not going anywhere." He comforts, wiping the tears away and rubbing my back.
"I-I'm sorry I c-can't."
"Shh it's ok don't worry about it now. It's not important at this second. Just follow my heartbeat and breathing."
I cry into his arms but I soon calm down.
"What would you like to do?" He asks.
"Go home."
"A-" Dad starts.
"Dad please. I'm outside a McDonald's having a mental breakdown. Please can I go home?"
"Ok darling."
James helps me up off the ground and I get in the backseat and avoid eye contact with dad and James.
Brendon's POV
I didn't know what to do. I called Pete and I think he talked to her. But I was so worried about her. From looking at her, she was close to the weight that she was when she was admitted. She refused to eat a single fry and just left. Once we get home she goes straight upstairs. I sigh and walk into the living room. I flop on the couch and put my head in my hands.
"Bren? Everything ok?" I look up and see Sarah.
"I don't know anymore. She won't eat and I don't know if you've noticed, but her weight is rapidly going down."
She nods and sits next to me on the couch.
"I know. I have noticed but I don't know how to approach it."
"She gets so defensive about it."
