Song of the Chapter: I'll Get There Too by Presence

Brendon's POV

Sarah and I walk into Anna's hospital room just like we had every morning for the last month.

"Hey you don't have any wires attached." I say but she doesn't hear me.
"Anna?" I walk over to the bed and she had her earphones in and was asleep. I smile and laugh quietly as I carefully pull them out so she wouldn't strangle herself. I turn her music off and see she was listening to Neon Gravestones in a playlist called 'Stay Alive'.

"She still asleep?" Sarah and I turn around to see her doctor. I nod and he smiles.
"That's good, she didn't sleep very well last night but physically she's a lot better and should be able to go home with in the next few days if all goes well."
"Really? Thank you."
"Of course, just let me know when she is awake so we can get some tests done."

He leaves and I look back over at my girl. She looked sad even while sleeping.
"You ok Bren?"
"Yeah just thinking."
"About?"
"Well she's physically better but mentally she's isn't but she also won't open up." Sarah nods thoughtfully. This last month Anna hadn't opened up about what happened, only enough to get the police off her back but she won't tell us how she was feeling she would tell us that she was fine but you could just tell she was lying. She was scared of everyone that wasn't me, Sarah, Gee or Pete. Dallon came and visited and she freaked out and Dallon felt so bad and had sent me many messages saying he was sorry. I assured him that it was ok and not his fault. James tried to visit but Anna didn't want to see him which made both of them feel terrible. James knew it wasn't him or her but that didn't stop him from feeling like shit. He had been staying with Pete because I didn't want him to be alone at ours or with his fucked up family.

Sarah and I talk for about an hour before Anna wakes up.
"Dad? Mum?"
"A, good morning."
"Morning." She pats around for, what I assume, her phone.
"Looking for this?" I say handing it to her, she nods and takes it from me.
"Thanks." She whispers.
"You ok?"
She nods.
"Just tired. I didn't sleep very much."
"The doctor wants to get some tests done when you woke up is that ok?"
"Yeah." She nods and Sarah lets the doctor know.

After a few tests, we get kicked out of the room so a therapist can talk to Anna. This new lady that the hospital was providing seemed really nice but Anna just wasn't up for getting help or talking about it. She just sat in sadness on her hospital bed, listening to music. Sarah and I join Gerard in the cafeteria for coffee. He had sent us a message asking if we wanted anything but I said we were coming.

"How is she?" He asks and I just shrug and shake my head.
"Tired, doesn't want to talk. Doctor says she didn't sleep much but she should be able to come home soon."
"Well that's some good news I guess."
"Yeah." I say fiddling with my coffee cup.
"Brendon, it'll get better she'll be ok." I look up at him and nod. Sarah gets up and says she'll be back, she's just going to the bathroom.
"Is Sarah ok?"
"She's coping she feels bad for James."
"How are you?"
"I'm ok."
"Are you?"
"Yeah."

Sarah comes back and I wrap my arm around her waist.
"You ok?" I mutter loud enough for her to hear and she nods. The three of us walk back up to Anna's room just as she finishes her time with the therapist. Before I walk into her room, the therapist pulls me over.

"All ok?" I ask.
"Kind of. So I don't know if the doctor has told you yet but Anna is healthy enough to go home tomorrow."
"He mentioned that it was a possibility."
She nods.
"Ok well she isn't cooperating with these sessions, she doesn't want to talk about it and it's not healthy for her to bottle it up and with her past of mental issues, she's going to need you and your wife to keep an eye on things."
"Ok thank you."
"Of course. If you would like to, I would like to set up a regular therapy session with her just once or twice a week."
"That would be good."
"Ok, here's my number for my office. I'll talk to you later Brendon."
"Thank you."
