Song of the Chapter: The Edge of Tonight by All Time Low

Brendon's POV

After James texted me, I ran to my car and drove as fast as I legally could to the address. I drove up to a bridge and I could see James but no Anna. My heart pounds as I turn the car off and get out.
"James?"
I walk up to him and I see Anna on the railing.
"Anna? What are you doing?"
She doesn't say anything and I turn to James.
"She's drunk, I think, and is say how she isn't wanted and all that, I'm scared she's about to do something stupid." He explains quietly. "I'm sorry Brendon I should have stopped her before she started drinking."
"Don't blame yourself let's just get her down from there."
He nods and I turn towards Anna and step closer.

"A, it's me, Brendon, can you step down from there darling?"
"I can't dad. Something inside me just wants to jump."
"Please don't. We need you to stay."
"I love you guys but I don't want to stay. I don't want to be here anymore."
"I know this sucks, I know what you're feeling feels like it's going to last forever but I promise you it's not going to last."
"It's been so long like this it's not getting better."
"Yes it will."
"I'm broken dad, I'm a disappointment, I'm not useful for anything."
"That's not true A," James speaks up, tears down his face, "you saved me when I didn't want to survive and now I want to do the same for you, please come down from there."
I catch sight of the cup in her hand and sigh.
"A please this is the alcohol talking, not you."
"No this is me dad. I want to die."
"Please come down or I'm going to call emergency services." I was about to start crying at the thought of my daughter jumping to her death.
"No."
"Just come down darling." I say and take another step towards her.
"James can you message Gerard to come here?" I say quietly, he nods and pulls out his phone.

Gerard's POV

I was watching a movie by myself as my wife and daughter were asleep, when I got a text from James.

From James: are you awake?
To James: yeah what's up
From James: please come to the bridge near Lakewood street, Brendon and I are scared about Anna

I didn't know what that meant but my mind went to the worst place possible.

To James: I'm coming

I drive as quickly as I can. When I see Brendon and James, I stop the car and jump out.
"A, please come down." Brendon says, voice cracking. James had tears on his face. Anna shakes her head.
"Anna?" I say and I see a cup of some sort. She turns her head and looks at me. Her facial expression was blank and dark. She looked like her life had been sucked out of her.
"Come here." I say softly.
"I can't."
"Yes you can."

Brendon's POV

When Gee shows up, it was the first time she turned around.
"Just step down A." I say.

Finally her foot hits solid ground and I enclose her in a hug. I was so glad she had stepped down. The entire night since, she hadn't shown any emotion but suddenly she bursts into tears and cries while I hug her. Gerard takes the cup of alcohol out of her hand. I was going to ask her about it but I decided to address it later. Gee holds the cup up and looks at me. I shrug and nod towards James.
"We were at a party and I left to go to the bathroom and then she had started drinking." He tells us and Anna keeps crying.
"I'm sorry."
"Shh it's ok as long as you are ok."
"I don't know anymore dad." She whimpers.
"How about we get home?" She nods and I carry her to my car. James offers to drive so I can stay with her and I thankfully agree.
"Do you want me to come to yours?" Gerard offers and I nod. I knew she might talk to him.

She was still crying by the time we got home.
"Bren? What's happening? Oh Anna are you alright?" Sarah says, tiredly as we walk inside.
"Can you get her blanket and some water along with some paracetamol?" I ask and she nods and goes to grab the things. Gerard pulls into the driveway within 10 seconds of us walking in.
