Song of the Chapter: Joyriding by Frank Iero

Anna's POV

I hear the door downstairs open and I hear Patrick's voice followed by dads. Pete heard it too and lets go of me.
"You ok?"
I shrug.
"Don't tell dad."
"Anna you know I have to."
"Just keep it a secret please."
"A, I know we have our fair share of secrets but this is one that I can't keep."

"A? You in there?"
"Yep."
"Can I come in?"
I look at Pete who nods.
"We have to tell him." He whispers.
"Only you."
"Ok?"

The door opens and dad walks in and shuts the door behind him.
"So, they got 10 years."
"That's good."
"Yeah, are you alright?"
Pete looks at me and I shake my head, I didn't want to tell him.
"Anna had a bit of a slip up this afternoon." Pete sighs and dad looks at me.
"Anna, did you hurt yourself?"
I nod, embarrassed. He embraces me in a hug.
"I'm sorry."
"A please try and stop this. You're destroying yourself."
"I can't dad. I can't stop everything is too much."
"Ok, let's get you home and we can figure out our next step."
I nod and I go wash my face.

Both Pete and dad help me downstairs where I hug mum. I say goodbye to the boys and Patrick embraces.
"Don't hurt yourself, you are too amazing for that." He whispers. I nod and silently follow Mum and dad to the car.

"You ok?" Mum asks and I just nod my head. Today had been a long day and it was just going to be longer once we get home.

———

I was correct. Dad and I have just spent the last hour and a half talking. Well dad was talking, I just wanted to crawl into a ball and cry.
"I know it's bad dad! I know it's wrong! But I don't know what else to do! Liam and his crew have broken me! I'm broken and there's no fixing me!" I shout and I hop downstairs and out the door.

I keep walking down the street on my crutches, crying. After about 10 minutes, I sit down on a bench and pull out my phone. There was 20 missed calls from Mum and dad. I ignore them and call Frank.

"Anna?"
"Fr-Frank?"
"Hey you ok?"
"N-no."
"What's up?"
"I-I y-yelled at d-dad and l-left."
"What do you mean left? Where are you?"
"I-I d-don't know."
"Ok, describe where you are and I'll come find you."
"Uhh I-I th-think I'm at t-the park a-at the e-end of my street."
"Ok, stay on the phone."

Soon Frank's car pulls up in front of me. He gets out and quickly rushes next to me. His arm wraps around me.
"Shh you're ok I'm here."
I cry and Frank comforts me.

"Come on, let's get you out of here."
"N-not home."
"Ok. Umm we can go to mine but Gerard is there."
"That's ok."
He helps me into the car.
"How did you walk this far on your crutches?" He says as he starts the car. I shrug and lean my face up against the cold window.

We get home and Gerard sees me.
"Anna you know your father is looking for you?"
"I know." I say blinking back tears. Gee sees this and softly walks over.
"Hey? What happened?" He hugs me awkwardly because of my crutches. The three of us sit on Franks couch.
"She called me earlier that's why I ran out before with no explanation."
"Why? I thought the trial went well."
"It did."
"So what happened?"
"I yelled at dad because I umm slipped up and dad was telling me that I need to stop otherwise he was going to put me in a program." I say quietly and pull my sleeves over my hands, a few tears rolling down my face. Frank and Gee hug me. I felt so bad that I had yelled at dad. I soon end up crying for a good 10 minutes until I become completely exhausted.

"Why don't we call your dad so he knows you're safe and you can sleep here tonight?" Frank suggests and I nod. Gee calls dad and I listen to his side of the conversation.
"Hey Brendon, Anna's here she's ok."
"She's going to stay here tonight."
"Ok, everything is ok Brendon I'll talk to you tomorrow."
