Song of the Chapter: Hold On by Chord Overstreet

Anna's POV

The pit in my stomach was too much and decided to ask dad if he could drive me to James'. Mum has fallen asleep already so I couldn't ask her.

"I'm sorry A. I've had something to drink and I can't drive. I'll take you in the morning. I'm sure everything is fine."
I nod and pace around my room and send James a few messages and called him a couple of times but he didn't answer and it was unlikely he was asleep. So I decided to call Gee.

"Anna? Everything ok?"
"I don't know. Can you come over? I need you to take me somewhere and dad can't because he's been drinking."
"Alright I'll be there in 10."
"Thank you."

I pace for 10 minutes. Gerard comes up the stairs, his keys in his hand.
"Ok what's wrong?"
"Just drive me to James' and I explain on the way."
"Alright."

"Dad I'll be back in a bit. I need to get to James' I'm with Gee."
"Alright."

"What's wrong." He says driving out of the driveway.
"It might just be because I'm overthinking everything, but I can't help but to feel like something bad has happened."
"Ok."

My leg bounces up and down the entire way and I check my phone every 5 seconds to see if James messages or calls me back. He hadn't which made me more anxious.

Gerard pulls up outside James' house and before he even turns the car off, I jump out the car and knock on the door. There was no response so I try the door handle which was unlocked. I open the door and run into the house. I try his room first and he wasn't there. After running into every room I soon find that the bathroom door was locked. I knock on it. No reply.

"James? Are you in there?"
I rattle the handle. I finally decide to just break the door down. I throw my weight against it a few times, it finally breaks open and I see a sight I never wanted to see. He was laying limp on the floor, an empty pill bottle at his side. I scream and run to him. I pull him in close.
"James! James! Wake up!" I cry hysterically.
"Anna?" I hear Gerard say. He walks into the bathroom and sees what I was crying and screaming about.
"Shit." He pulls out his phone and calls 911.
"Please don't leave me! James! Wake up. Please."

The paramedics arrive within 5 minutes and I was still crying and screaming. My throat was sore and dry but I didn't care. I wanted James to be ok.
"Miss. Please let him go we are going to take care of him but we need you to let go."
"No. I need to stay with him." I cry.
"A, come on let the paramedics take care of him." Gerard takes my hands so I'm not holding onto James and picks me up off the floor. I cry into his chest.

"We are going to take him to the hospital now, are you coming with us?"
I look at Gerard who nods.
"You go with him, I'll go tell Brendon and Sarah and meet you there."
I nod and follow the paramedics, still crying. I grab his hand on the way to the hospital.
"Hold on James please. I need you. I love you please don't leave me."

Gerard's POV

As soon as I get in the car, I start crying. I drive to Brendon and Sarah's house and knock on the door.
"Gee? What happened? Where's Anna?"
"You need to get to the hospital now. James overdosed. Anna's with him now, they are in the ambulance."
"Shit. Alright let me wake Sarah."
"I'll be in my car."

I sit in my car and Sarah and Brendon soon get in. I drive as quickly as legally possible.

"We are here for James Scott." Brendon says to the receptionist.
"Sorry only family allowed at the moment."
"My daughter, who is his girlfriend, just came in with him in the ambulance. Where is she?"
"She would most likely be upstairs."
"Ok thank you."
