Song of the Chapter: Cancer by My Chemical Romance

Anna's POV

"Can I call Gee?"
"Of course A, your phone is downstairs."
"Can you get it for me?"
"Sure, I'll be back."
"Thank you."

Pete comes back within 30 seconds with my phone.
"I'll be downstairs when you're done."
"Thank you."

"Anna? Everything ok?" I hear Gees voice and I instantly feel calmer.
"No. Not really."
"What's up?"
"Liam is in Santa Monica."
"Fuck. Sorry. Are you ok?"
"I mean..."
"A?"
"I'm holding on."
"What does that mean?"
"I don't know Gee, I'm so scared. He knows where I live I'm not at comfort at all."
"It will be- Frank! I'm on the phone! Sorry A but I don't know what to say other than you are surrounded by people who will protect you. I'll be home in about 5 days and we'll come over."
"Thank you Gee. Tell the others I said hi and sorry for ruining the show last night."
"Anna you didn't ruin the show."
"Whatever you say."
"You didn't. Love you Anna."
"Love you too Gee, I'll talk to you later."

I walk back downstairs once I had hung up and they all turn and look at me. James holds his arms out and I just stay in his arms.
"You ok?"
"Mhm."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."

"Anna?"
"Yeah." I look up at dad.
"We aren't going to leave you, nor are we going to make you leave. I love you."
"I love you too dad."

"So I know this is odd timing but cookies anyone?" Mum says behind us. We all laugh and accept one of the freshly baked goods. She places the tray down on the coffee table and hugs me warmly.
"I love you."
"I love you too."

"Anna? I have to go, I need to go pick up Saint from school."
"Ok bye Pete."

He leaves and it clicked what he just said.
"Wait, school? James don't you have school too?"
"It's fine."
"You should have gone to school. I would have been fine."
"No way, I wasn't going to leave you. Not a chance."
"What about your parents?"
"Screw them, you're more important."

Almost as if it was a coincidence, the doorbell rings. Dad goes to answer it and we hear a screech.
"Where is he?! I swear to god if you've taken my son."

James goes down the hallway and I follow behind like a puppy.
"You!" His mother points her finger towards me.
"Hello, how are you?"
"Why is James here? Again! James you are to come home now. You can't miss school especially not for her."
"Do not talk to my girlfriend like that! How dare you barge in here and cause a scene in front of everyone!"
"You ungrateful bitch! Don't talk to your mother like that!" She slaps him in the face. "I wish you succeeded and you died. Go die in a hole with your sucky girlfriend." She snarled and gets in her car. Dad pulls out his phone.
"I'm calling the cops on that woman."
"Brendon, please don't. It's fine."
"James it's not fine she just slapped you."
"Brendon they won't do anything, it's all good," he turns to look at me, "are you ok?"
"I'm ok, you aren't though. Your mother just slapped you and told you to die."
"It's fine."
I shut the door and lock it.

"James! What happened?" Mum exclaims.
"It's nothing Sarah I'm fine."
"You have a large red hand print on your face."
"His mother." I say.
"What! I'm calling the police."
"Sarah, thank you but it's no use. I'm ok."
"Well at least let's get you some ice for it."

Mum goes into the kitchen and comes back with some ice. James and I sit on the couch and he holds the bag of ice on his face while I lean on his other arm.
"You ok?"
"Just scared about everything."
"Get some sleep if you want, I'll stay here."
"Really?"
"Of course."
"Thank you."

Brendon's POV

"Hey Gee are you busy?"
"No not at the moment, what's up?"
"When are you coming home?"
"I've told A 5 days but it could be as early as 3. It depends on management."
"Ok, because she's fucking scared."
"What can we do though? I don't want to overwhelm her."
"I know. I'm so bad at this."
"At what?"
"Being a parent."
"Back up a bit, you adopted Anna 4 years ago and gave her a whole new life. She became confident enough to be able to perform in front of hundreds of people. You have helped her in so many ways. She's so appreciative of you and she loves you so much. She's so scared to disappoint you because she looks up to you."
