"Hey, Dan," I yelled from my room. "Wanna watch this guy play a horror game?"
I heard Dan groan from the lounge before coming to my bedroom door and poking his head.
"What horror game is it?" He asked, stepping in and closing the door behind him. "It's Five Nights at Treasure Island. This guy, Markiplier, played it." "Is it like Five Nights at Freddy's, but Disney?" He asked, sitting on the bed with me. "Yeah," I smiled, wrapping an arm around him, "Wanna watch?" "Sure." I turned my laptop towards us, and played the video.
Now, we were on his second video, and holy crap, Dan was terrified. There were already some jump scares, and Dan was nearly on the verge of tears from the horror.
I paused it, closed the lid, and then pulled Dan into my lap. "Sshhh, bear. It's okay, it's not real." "I-I know B-but I'm still s-scared of it though." I know, but it's okay. I've got you. no one can hurt you as long as I'm here." "Really?" He looked up at my with big, caramel eyes. "Really." I replied. "Promise?" "Promise."
Eventually we got in our PJs and Dan was laying in his bed, and I was going to turn the light off. "No, Phil. Don't turn the light off." "Bear." I sighed. "Please. I'm scared." He squeaked. "Okay, how about we turn your amber lamp, desk lamp, and fairy lights on instead, yeah?" "I-I dunno." he hid himself in the sheets. "I'll protect you." I assured before turning the desk lamp on.
I turned the fan's light off, and made sure the door was locked so Dan wouldn't freak out. "There are still dark parts of the room." He said, looking around, checking every corner of the room frantically. "Dan, baby. It's okay. I'm here, you're safe."
I crawled into bed, and Dan grabbed onto me for dear life. "Dan, Shh. you're okay." I stroked his hair as I could feel him slightly shaking with fear against my chest. He just kind of whined in response, and snuggled into my chest as deep as possible. Eventually though, he calmed down, and eventually fell asleep.
But later that night, while I was sleeping, he started turning and shaking. I grabbed him, and held him close. "Wake up, bear. Shh, it's me, Phil. Just wake up, you're okay." I cooed, shaking him slightly and rubbing circles in his back. He finally opened his eyes, and jumped back, and started breathing heavily.
"Phil." his voice cracked, and he dove into me, crying and shaking. "Dan, baby boy, it's okay. Shh, I'm here. I've gotcha."
Soon, he calmed down, and I stroked his hair for a while until he fell asleep in my arms.
