Phil's POV

I slipped my shoes on and tied the laces swiftly. I grabbed my big coat and threw it over my jumper as I stepped outside into the cold autumn air.

I thought I was just going on a walk. But no. Oh, no, see, this walk was going to change my life, and I was going to meet the love of my life.

I walked past cars, roads, and even the occasional bus before I pulled over to the side of the pavement where there was a small pathway that lead to an area behind a large building. Behind the building was a bunch of orange trees, and I pushed through them, walking faster and faster as I got more excited.

Finally, after one last branch shove, I was there. I was home.

The path was thin, and made of dirt that seemed like it's been untouched for weeks. The trees were extremely tall and all o orange red and yellow, it felt like they towered over me like the buildings in London. There was the smallest bit of wind, and it made the leaves seem to tickle at the sky.

I took a deep breath, and started walking down the path, relaxed and smiling the entire time.

About a mile into my walk, I saw something in one of the trees up ahead. At first I thought it was an animal of some sort, but as I (extremely cautiously) got closer, I noticed it was a boy. He was a bit younger than me, and he was wearing black skinny jeans with a black and gray shirt. His hair, I could barely tell, was brown, and swept to the side in a fringe, like mine.

"Hey!" I yelled up to him once I was a few yards away from the tree. He jumped viciously, nearly fell, but then caught his balance. "H-Hi..." He stuttered shyly. "Sorry I scared you. I'm Phil." I smiled up at him. He gave me a confused look, like a puppy, and then replied, "I'm Dan." "Mind if I come up, or you come down?" I asked. "Yeah, you can come up." he replied, and I could tell he seemed scared, or nervous that I was here.

None the less, I climbed up the tree, and finally sat atop the beach he was swinging his feet on.

"You come up here often?" I asked, and he laughed in response. "That sounded like a pick-up line, didn't it?" I looked to him, holding in a chuckle, and he nodded as he laughed.

"But really, do you?" I asked again after our laughing fit was over. "Yeah, everyday. Same trail, same forest, same tree, same branch, same place on the branch." "How do you remember which branch it is?" "I used to leave my jacket tied to this branch, it was a plain black jacket so I'd see it agains the trees, and eventually I just memorized how to get up here." "Oh, sounds like you really dedicated yourself." I chuckled, and he nodded sadly. "What's wrong? Was it something I said?" I asked sympathetically, feeling extremely bad for what I said. "It's just, I used to only come up here because I was running from my abusive father." He said, looking down. I instantly felt horrible, and my throat went dry. I put my hand on his shoulder and said, "I'm so sorry." "It's ok, he was recently arrested. But that doesn't matter. Tell me about yourself." "Well, I like lions, Internet, Muse..." I rambled on. "Muse? I love them!" Dan's eyes lit up suddenly.

We talked for a little while, but then noticed it was getting dark out, and decide to go home. "See you tomorrow?" I asked. "Of course. See you tomorrow." He stood on his tip toes and kissed my cheek.

I blushed horribly as he walked off, as trotted back home. I was more ten excited to see him tomorrow. This could be the start of something amazing, I thought, I hope so, at least.
