A/N: AU (alternate universe if you didn't know 'cause I just found this out) where Dan is only eight and Phil is twelve (but very mature for a twelve year old so he acts closer to sixteen)
Dan's POV
I knew tonight I had to go find the group of boys. It was the second Friday of the month, and I had to go find them in the same alleyway I've passed for four years or they would...punish me.
I waited until my mum fell asleep that night and I left out the back door. Once I was in the back alleys, I walked all the way to the center of London and to the building between the grocery store and the book store.
Once I got there, I saw them. Five boys all dressed in black and gray clothes covering them from head to toe. I knew all of them and there names, but the one who I was most, familiar, with was Baxter. Well, he says that's his fake name, I don't know his real one.
"I'm here." I squeaked out with my high pitched voice kids always made fun of me for. "Good, kid, good. We've got a job for you." Baxter walked up to me, towering over my my a few feet, and smirked.
Phil's POV
I carried the couple of bags on my arms that I bought for my mums birthday, and made my way outside. It was nice and cold outside, and it felt nice against my pale skin.
I may have only been twelve, but my mom knew I was mature and let me go out whenever I needed. This time I told her it was just for groceries, otherwise I would've ruined the surprise.
As I walked closer to the book store a head of me, a little kid ran out of the alleyway.
I yelped as I tripped on him, and the little boy fell down too. "Oh my god. I-I'm sorry. I've gotta go!" He cried, looking into the alleyway before bolting past the book store. I looked inside and didn't see anything; only the pitch black light.
Why the hell is a little kid outside so late? Why was he running? And where was he going? I thought, jumping to my feet to go chase him.
"Hey, wait!" I screamed once the kid was only a yard or two away from me. He stopped and turned around, out of breath just as I was.
"Kid, what are you doing out here?" I breathed, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Running. I don't think they've found me." He said, as if without thinking. "F-From what?" I asked him.
He looked around unsteadily before standing on his tiptoes to whisper into my ear, "The bad guys." "Who are the bad guys?" I asked him in response. "Daniel!" I heard a scream from behind us, and j wiped around to see five skinny guys standing far behind us. They only looked a tiny bit bigger than me, mostly because I'm a giant for my age.
"Come here you brat!" One of them screamed, and the boys' eyes few two times their size.
I quickly picked the kid up bridal style, dropping all of my things, and running like the wind. No way in hell were this little kid's legs fast enough to run away from them. I had done cross country for boys a year ago, so I had hope that it would help me a little bit.
I ran and ran with the boy in my arms telling me where they wee and I they were still running. Eventually, somehow, on the way to my home we lost them.
I painted and panted, setting the kid down in front of my house. "Kid. What's your name?" I asked him and I wheezed for air. "Daniel, but I like Dan better. Thanks for saving me." He smiled shyly. "Of course. I've always wanted to be like a super hero and save people." I replied as I pulled my phone out. "Well you're my hero." He said happily, and hugged the bottom of my stomach, and his head only went to the bottom of my chest. I bent down slightly and hugged him back before going back to my phone.
I called the police, and luckily they showed up right after the gan had found us again. They all were arrested and brought to prison. Of course, they patted my down to make sure I didn't do anything to Dan, and then called his mother.
"Hey, before you go, can I give you something?" I asked Dan quickly while the police were all talking to one another. "What is it?" He asked back. I gave him a small sticky note with my phone number on it that I meant to give to a boy at school earlier. "Thank you." He smiled, and I got on one knee to hug him. "You're welcome." I replied before they took Dan away an drive him home.
An officer asked me if I needed a ride home, but I said that I would just walk it (even though I was right in front of my house, I didn't want to deal with more questions).
As they all drove away, Dan pressed himself against the glass of the at and waved to me. "Thank you." He mouthed and I smiled before replying in the same fashion, "You're welcome."
Then, as we waved good-bye, the small cop car drove away.
