FLORENCE WENT INTO THE LARGE COUNCIL ROOM FIRST

FLORENCE WENT INTO THE LARGE COUNCIL ROOM FIRST. In the merfolk world, woman were still oppressed in the government side of things. South America held the largest governing body in the entire world, so they created most of the laws the Ministers had to follow. Forence informed the council of Lorelei's presence, and he asked kindly they refrain from hurting her. The council was a bit rougher to how they treated half-breeds, and Florence was livid that her Professor would make her do this. Whether or not he understood how things were under the water, he should've considered how prejudiced people were.

The council only frowned, the president (or king? Lorelei wasn't sure) swam forward and said the half-breed would be restrained at first. They would deem fit of what to do to her afterward.

Clara held Lorelei's bag as Lorelei was forced into restraints. The council wasn't as harsh due to her obviously coming into their hands for something. They had no reason to arrest her, yet.

The president (Lorelei decided to keep thinking that was what he was) had blue hair that went to his shoulders, obviously dyed. His eyes were a smoldering black, and his face held a devious smirk. Lorelei longed to be anywhere but there at that moment. She cursed Dumbledore too many times in her head.

"Pretty thing, aren't you," he started, swimming forward. He tapped her bruised neck with a tsking sound. "I see you've met trouble on your way here. Obviously it's important. Speak, child." Lorelei felt the man pull her tail harshly causing her eyes to grow dark as she looked down at him. "I said to speak, half-breed."

"My name is Lorelei," Lorelei hissed. "I'm getting rather sick of being called half-breed."

A few people gasped as Bethany hit her forehead with her hand, wondering why Lorelei chose now to act all smart-like.

The blue-haired man bit his lip as a smirk landed on his lips again. He raised a hand to silence the protest around him. "Fiesty, you are. Tell me, is that a British accent I hear? Where are you from?"

"London," she growled back. "That's besides the matter. I'm here on behalf of Albus Dumble--"

SMACK.

"You dare speak his name! After the absolute hell he put us through in their petty wars with some Dark Lord! He was always begging us for aid, but not once did he send aid when we were killing each other over land and power!" he hissed, grabbing Lorelei's already bruised throat. "Despicable, you are. He as well, sending you to your death like this."

"What?" Florence shouted. "No, Mr. Reynolds. She has done nothing wrong."

"You will not kill her," Clara shouted causing more people to gasp. Women never spoke out against Reynolds.

"Quiet your wife, Calypso, or I'll have her tail cut off as well!" Reynolds shouted back. "I will have order!"

Lorelei was vaguely reminded of Umbridge, and for a second, it was as if Lorelei was looking in a mirror to Dolores's eyes. Narrowing her eyes, Lorelei hissed, "I bet you do work with some wizards and witches."

Reynolds laughed a bit mockingly. "I have to, don't I? That is the only way to keep peace between us. That is beside the point, half-breed--"

"Dolores Umbridge, ring a bell?" Lorelei seethed.

Reynolds smirked as he whispered so no one could hear, "She told me all about you, Lorelei. You wizards don't know what's coming."

Suddenly, a loud commotion went off in one corner of the large cove they were in. It was a bunch of crashes and yelling, so Reynolds growled lowly before shouting at guards to watch over Lorelei. Clara swam forward, almost getting knocked out of the way, but Florence only said to leave her be.

Without hesitation, Clara slipped Lorelei her wand.

It was seemingly a blur after that. Lorelei shouted spells at her guards, knocking them out cold. Soon, more people from the council tried to get to her, but Florence and Clara had already begun to pull her toward the door. Bethany was waiting outside, now, in case they tried to harm her.

Lorelei grinned as she melodically waved her wand as different jets of light flew from her wand. Before she knew what was happening, a spell hit her, freezing her motions. Clara and Florence's eyes widened, not knowing what to do.

Reynolds laughed, holding another merman by his neck. The merman held a wand, but his eyes were pleading with Lorelei. To do what? She wasn't sure. Lorelei faintly saw the man and woman from the last colony they visited being pulled in by their hair. They had caused the commotion for Lorelei to escape.

Lorelei couldn't help but feel her heart grow staring at the people defending her.

"Kill her," Reynolds whispered to the boy. He shook his head. "Kill her or I kill you!"

"Rey!"

Reynolds froze at the voice. There was a woman swimming quickly to the scene. She was beautiful like most merfolk were, but there was something different about this woman. She gave off the sense of holding great power, and Lorelei never wanted to get on the bad side of this lady. Who could she be that even Reynolds would stop his actions?"

"Yes, my love?" he hissed. "I'm in the middle of something."

His wife. Of course.

She allowed her eyes to darken, but instead of the normal black Lorelei's would turn, they turned a dark purple. She growled out, "And what? You were going to make this boy a killer? You were going to kill this girl because some ugly, pink-loving witch told you to? I don't think so."

"Tyra, we can make amends later. I have to do this," he snarled. Most of the council around him didn't know what to do during this awkward scene, so they turned away. The boy Reynolds was holding widened his eyes at Lorelei. He mouthed, you can move. Lorelei noticed he had dropped the spell.

She could've easily escaped at this moment with Reynolds and Tyra speaking, but she stared at the three merfolk who had tried to save her life. She knew she couldn't leave them here.

Before she could make up her mind on what to do, Tyra spoke once more.

"You'll kill a pregnant woman? I don't care what you think you need to do, Reynolds, but you will not harm her more than you have already."
