This story is the continuation of Behind closed doors so if you haven't read that one I suggest to start there. This novel is more storydriven than BCD and also involves more focus on the other characters in the Overwatch family.
The story picks up...
Mood: Darkness settles in - Five finger death punch
"You!" Genji yelled at Moira. "It was you!"
Moira tilted her head.
"You do not seem to have a proper recollection of this place, do you?" she concluded.
Genji was like a fish out of water. He desperately fought to regain control of his body, but it refused to budge. He reached out for his sword but Moira simply put a foot on the hilt, pinning it to the floor.
"But you are indeed lucky...," she sneered. "We have plenty of time to refresh those memories of yours."
Sombra was standing behind them, counting her money.
"Well, I guess my job here is done then," she concluded and put the money in her pocket. "Y'all have fun now!"
Genji glared at her.
"You remember what I told you...," he hissed. "Remember..."
"Yeah, yeah... ending me yada yada yada...won't be able to hide blah blah blah," she said mockingly. "Bye now... Sparrow..."
Genji roared out his frustration, still he couldn't do anything but helplessly watch as she disappeared into thin air.
Moira turned to Maximilien.
"The room is prepared, move him there and I shall be with you shortly."
As she turned around to leave the room Genji reached out for her.
"M-my... my brother!" he managed to stammer out. "Please... y-you got me now, please let him go!"
Moira turned back to him raising an eyebrow to imitate some sort of confusion.
"And deprive Gabriel of his new favorite toy?" she asked. "I did not think you could be this coldhearted..."
She let loose a sinister cackle before leaving the room. As she did, two guards entered and dragged Genji out. He tried to fight back, but didn't stand a chance with his armor not functioning.
"You despicable monster!" he screamed after Moira, who ignored his outburst and soon disappeared in the dark corridors.
He was carried through the facility, across a big open area and was finally put down in front of a closed gate. Maximilien was following closely behind, carrying Genji's longsword. When the gate opened and he saw what was inside, he got chills running down his spine.
"No... no...," he stammered distraught as he saw the familiar cables hanging down from the ceiling.
"Override activated. Reboot initiating."
Maximilien, the guards and Genji all looked down at Genji's body as the lights on his armor suddenly turned back on.
The guards looked at each other and then at Maximilien.
"Neat," Genji said with glee in his voice
"The sword! Grab the other sword, on his back!" Maximilien cried out, but before anyone of them could react, Genji had already broken free from their grip.
Within a few seconds they both fell to the floor, meant to never rise again.
Maximilien gasped and lifted his wrist, but before he could call out for help, Genji dashed at him and pinned him against a wall with the sword firmly placed at his throat.
