Mood: A thousand miles - Vanessa Carlton
Jesse was almost skipping down the road down to Hanamura.
"Aren't you in an awfully good mood?" Genji said while watching him. "Are you not tired from the travel?"
Jesse took out his revolver and spun it on his finger.
"No time to be tired!" he grinned. "We are almost there and it's time to get Hanzo back!"
Genji grabbed his shoulder to stop him and turned him around so he could face him. He took off his mask and let his hair flow in the air.
"Jesse," he said in a calm but serious voice. "You have to understand that this is not a game. This is going to be very dangerous, because we have no idea what we are up against. Hanzo is a day ahead of us and we don't know what has happened since he got there, assuming that he made it. They are no amateurs, the people that are in his clan, and there are many of them and only two of us."
He paused for a second.
"Last time you were there I understand that you killed several of their men and when it comes to me, I am supposed to be dead. Trust me, Jesse, we are not welcome."
Jesse thought for a few moments.
"I know that Hanzo want us to be here. The message was clear. This is not the first mission we have done where we were outnumbered either," he said.
"Yes, but we haven't fought together in a long time and back then we had Moira and Gabr-"
He stopped himself as he saw Jesse's eyes turning dark and his face pale.
"I'm sorry," he said and hung his head.
Jesse's heart was beating hard in his chest. Hearing Gabriel's name hit him with many bad memories.
He shook his head and forced a smile.
"It will be fine," he said.
He quickly threw himself backwards, did a roll and pointed his gun at Genji. In a split second he fired several bullets at him.
Genji was just as quick to draw his sword and deflected the bullets away.
"See!" Jesse said with a smug while, still on the ground. "You still got it!"
He winked at Genji who shook his head.
"And you are still crazy," he calmly said as he put his sword away.
He reached out a hand and helped Jesse up.
"This though...," Genji continued. "...is the kind of attention we don't want. We have to do this very quietly and be very smart about it. It is not like any one of us fit in with the crowds in Hanamura."
He gazed at the horizon where the sun was setting over the town that Genji once called his home.
"We move in when it gets dark and you have to follow my lead on this one," he said and turned to Jesse. "Do you remember where their headquarters are?"
"Hmm...," Jesse pondered. "I had to leave in a hurry the last time I was there but I think I should be able to find it."
"Good," Genji said. "Just please promise me to keep a low profile. Don't be stupid, think before you act. I know this culture, you don't. Are we clear on that?"
He gave a single nod, waiting for confirmation from Jesse.
Jesse looked a bit offended at first but then nodded back. He knew that Genji was right. Jesse could be a bit of a hot-head sometimes and the results of that had varied over the years.
