Mood: I am machine - Three days grace

Gabriel was sitting on the ground with Angela in his arms. It was getting dark and he could barely make out the surroundings in front of him through the holes in his skull mask. Gabriel did not care though. He stared blankly out into nothingness as the memories of the past years assaulted his mind.

His breaths were short, almost wheezing and he was trembling as he tried to keep himself calm. Had he really done all those things? Jack... Jesse... Genji... Hanzo... all those innocent people. The screams... they echoed inside his head. Both his own and others. The pain and tears. Hurt.

Could it really be true? All the things that Jack had written.

He tightened the embrace on Angela and she softly moaned in her sleep. Gabriel tried to make sense of it all. The bits and pieces were falling into place... the timeline of everything that had occurred. It frightened him. He wanted to run... he was dangerous, he should not be here.

He looked down at Angela. No, he could not leave. There were so many things he needed answered... but at the same time... Angela... and the baby.

"The baby...," he mumbled.

He did not know for how long he sat there, thinking about everything and what to do. As he felt Angela shivering, he instinctively made a decision.

Gently he scooped her up in his arms and carried her inside.

Angela was completely out. He felt bad for her. She should not have to go through this type of stress. All because of him. He at least had to make sure that she was okay before leaving.

His boots hit the wood as he walked up the stairs and over to her bedroom. He carefully laid her down and covered her body with the blanket.

"Gabriel...?" Angela mumbled.

"Sleep," Gabriel said in his deep and raspy voice.

He made sure to turn off the lights before walking back down the stairs and into Angela's medical office.

He sat down on the bed and took off his mask. He glanced over at the mirror. He looked normal again... but for how long?

He took off his gloves and carefully looked at his hands. He clenched his fists as he saw the black smoke slowly evaporating from him. The pain was almost gone, but he could still feel the panic inside. The one he had felt so many times before.

He too could use some sleep, but what if he woke up as... that? What if he hurt her?

His mind was spinning. He should leave and never return. But what would he do? Would he be able to stay away? When that... monster took over, there were no limits to what he could do. If his memories were correct...

He shivered as he thought about what he had done. Everything up until Hanamura was fairly clear now... after that, it became blurry, but the pieces that he did remember were nothing but pain for everyone that had been anywhere close to him.
