Part 72 - Being There: 2/2

"Thank you," Genji said as he treated Jesse to a light smile. "I am just... terrified."

Jesse put a hand on Genji's neck and pressed their foreheads closer together.

"I understand that," Jesse said. "Believe me, I understand that. But you are amongst friends and family here... we always got each other's backs. I know that Torbjörn, Ana, Winston, Reinhardt... I and Hanzo, all of us are trying to solve this. All we want for you is to be able to relax and trust your own body."

Genji closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Because we love you and we need you," Jesse continued. "Out on the battlefield, no one can do what you do and as a friend... as a brother, you are the best one anyone could ever ask for!"

"I hear your words," Genji said with sadness. "I appreciate them... but I keep hurting all of you... the people I care about the most."

Jesse took a step back with a hand on Genji's shoulder.

"But it is not you doing that," Jesse said. "You were not you when the thing with my arm happened... or you fighting with Gabriel... or the thing with Ha-"

Jesse stopped himself and Genji lightly smirked as Jesse covered his mouth.

"I was not supposed to... God dammit, me and my big mouth," Jesse cursed himself.

"I know, Jesse," Genji said. "I know it was me who did that to my brother... I figured it out... and if I had not, I knew that you would have slipped up sooner or later. Sooner, probably... obviously."

Genji winked at Jesse who grumbled in return. Genji let out a few chuckles as he patted Jesse on the cheek.

The two best friends then shared a heartfelt hug.

"I am so happy that you are here," Jesse said with a sigh of calmness. "Now when I finally have you back in my life, I want to spend as much time with you as I can from now onwards... I have really missed you."

"I have missed you too... brother," Genji said. "But right now, I am not safe to be around... even if I am not in control of my body, it is still my body that is being used as a weapon... and therefor I bear the burden of what it does."

Jesse let go of Genji and sighed as he rubbed his neck.

"I get that," he said. "Even though it was Sombra controlling my arm, it was still my arm and my revolver... it feels like I did it... that I shot her."

"I am glad that you understand," Genji said.

Hanzo was watching the two from a hill above them.

Genji noticed him after a while and waved for him to join them, but Hanzo turned his back to them and slowly walked off out on a cliff.

Genji smiled.

"It is time for meditation," he calmly said as he watched Hanzo walk away.

He then turned to Jesse.

"Speaking of meditation," he said with his smile widening. "How is it working out for you not smoking and drinking?"

Jesse sighed again.

"Don't tell your brother," Jesse replied. "But I miss it every day... I feel like I have lost a part of myself... I understand it is not healthy, but I really, really enjoy it... but I'll stick it out. I'll prove that I am not getting sick because of it. If it makes Hanzo and the rest of you happy... I'll play along."
