Part 46 - Bloodlust: 3/3

Mood: Save me - Omri

Jack walked on unsteady legs back up to the castle. He had gotten some rest while trying to figure out what to do next. Every step was painful and he was still utterly drained, but it was time to get going. He couldn't leave Gabriel up there alone for any longer.

He took a deep breath before walking inside. He found Gabriel on the ground, still tied by his hands and feet. An exhausted Gabriel opened his eyes slowly once he heard Jack walk in. He was back to his normal appearance, but had his mouth open as he panted almost like an overheating dog.

Jack squinted as he cautiously walked up to him. He could feel his pulse rising as he saw the bloodstained carped underneath his feet. Despite the trauma, a sense of sympathy filled him as he looked down at Gabriel. He looked so weak and frail compared to the being that had been chasing Jack through the castle.

Jack sighed as he went down on one knee next to Gabriel.

"We are leaving," he said in a deep voice.

He untied Gabriel's legs and double checked that his hands were tied without any chances of him escaping. Just to be sure, he pulled Gabriel's hood down and wrapped the rope around his neck once as well. He let it hang loosely, but tied it in a noose so if there were any unexpected attempts at escaping, Jack could just pull on it and have Gabriel in a chokehold. With the state Gabriel currently was in, though, Jack wanted to allow him to breathe as freely as possible.

He grabbed the collar of Gabriel's coat and pulled him up on his feet.

"Move," Jack ordered and pushed Gabriel in the back.

Gabriel took a step forward but then fell forward as his legs would not carry him. Jack just barely managed to let go of the rope to not strangle him as he went down.

"For fuck's sake, Reyes...," Jack grumbled, displeased.

While muttering to himself he ripped the bandages of his wrist. He looked around, located his combat knife and went to pick it up. With a swift movement he reopened the wound and quickly pushed his arm against Gabriel's lips. Gabriel's eyes widened and he greedily sucked the blood out of Jack's body.

"Better?" Jack grunted at him after a little while as he pulled his wrist away from Gabriel.

Gabriel grunted with displeasure and shook his body to try to get closer to Jack who was wrapping his wrist back up.

"I'll take that as a yes," Jack said unamused.

This time when he pulled Gabriel up, the beast started walking as he once again got a determined push in the back to start moving. Jack hung the bag over his shoulders and grabbed his rifle while holding the rope with his other hand. On the way out he picked up his handgun and Gabriel's mask.

As they exited the castle the same way they had come in, Gabriel cried out in pain. Jack watched him in confusion but then raised his eyebrows as the light fell on his head.

Jack put the mask over Gabriel's face and retrieved his gloves, putting them on his hands while adjusting the ropes to make sure that they still touched Gabriel's skin.

"She really fucked you up badly this time," Jack concluded when all of Gabriel's skin was hidden from the sunlight. "Forcing you to hide in the shadows."

Jack knew the pain of sunlight and although he was still furious for what Gabriel had done to him, he did not wish that pain on anybody. This was not Gabriel's fault... Jack kept repeating it to himself whenever he felt the urge to punish him.

Once he made Gabriel walk forward again, flashbacks of the situation they were currently in came back to him. This was eerily similar to when he had forced Gabriel to the shed and whipped him into submission. Different clothes, different times, but the view was pretty much the same. He had been so angry that day... and Gabriel had felt every single bit of that anger. In retrospect, Jack had a hard time grasping that it had actually been him doing it to Gabriel. That person felt distant... as if it was someone else.
